Is Fortnite ending? For some reason, whenever the game is coming to the end of a Chapter, some players get a bit muddled up. But the Battle Royale isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
At the moment, the game is preparing for a season to end. It’ll also be our last chance to play on the Simpsons map, which has only been here for a mini season. Then there’s the selection of the guns over the last year, and probably our last look at the Simpsons content. Ending fully though? That’s a different story.
No, Fortnite isn’t ending.
Chapter 6 of Fortnite is. Every year a Chapter ends, and a new one begins. It’s a pattern Fortnite has fallen into recently. The first two chapters were much longer. But lately we only get four Fortnite seasons, or a year, and then it’s a new Chapter. The rumours of Fortnite ending every time a chapter closes date back to the first time it happened.

After a Fortnite live event, players found that the game had been replaced with a Black Hole. Everyone looking into Fortnite leaks had a better idea of what was happening and when the game would return. Chapter 2 wasn’t exactly a secret. However, Fortnite ending wasn’t the craziest idea when you turned the game on and saw a static screen of a black hole. It proved to only be temporary though. It wasn’t Fortnite ending at the peak of its popularity, which shouldn’t really be a major surprise.
For the launch of more recent Chapters, the teasers have directly led into the new season. Although, this hasn’t stopped some people who missed the Fortnite live event from assuming it means Fortnite is ending. Even though it tends to just be a few hours of downtime, and then a new season begins.
For this changeover, players have been getting advanced teasers about Fortnite Chapter 7 for over a month now. Although, the build-up to the Fortnite live event could have some players convinced the game is ending. Even if everyone else is expecting a new season to begin right on schedule.

This weekend, we’re expecting a new Fortnite live event to launch which will roll the game into a new Chapter. After leaving the last island to do the Simpsons mini season, we’re supposedly going to be returning to where we spent most of Chapter 6. Lately, leaving the islands has been a big sudden.
For the Chapter 5 map, we watched a live stream then lost the island forever. This time, we’ll be revisiting a small area. Hopefully it’ll let us see what’s going to happen to the current island when we leave. Flipped over, destroyed and re-formed, there’s a lot we could see for the fate of this island. Fighting a giant kraken in some way, it could get weird. That will introduce us to Chapter 7!
At the end of the last season, we moved to a new Simpsons island. From the teasers for the next live event though, we will be coming back to the last map. The Simpsons map is smaller, so it could see a future in other modes like Reload. Since Fortnite ending isn’t happening, it’ll probably pop back up in the future.
The live event will likely end with an establishing shot of the new island. Making clear that Fortnite ending isn’t happening this time. At least that’s how the end of Chapter live events usually go.

Instead of Fortnite ending, we’re actually going to start a brand-new chapter. This will be Fortnite Chapter 7. It’s going to mean a new map for players to explore, just like we saw with the last six new Chapter launches. We also got a new map last season for the Simpsons, and smaller ones for modes like Reload and Remix. Even a brief Stranger Things Blitz map, for some reason. So a new map isn’t as big of a deal as it used to be. But we are expecting a few surprises with Chapter 7.
The game will be embracing a new type of storm for the first time, with different shapes able to appear. We’re also supposedly getting some cool new weapons and features like surfing. We won’t know for certain everything that’s coming until the downtime ends. But anyone convinced Fortnite ending would happen might be surprised when the game re-launches with a load of new features.
