BLAST has announced that Liquid are replacing The MongolZ at BLAST Open London 2025, following the Mongolian team facing visa issues ahead of the UK tournament. Although the initial stage of BLAST Open London 2025 takes place online, they would have found themselves unable to play on LAN should they progress further into the tournament.
While unfortunate for The MongolZ, the move gives Liquid another opportunity to gain increasingly precious VRS points. Liquid have had a troublesome year so far, and a disastrous start to the season has seen them fall to 24th in the Valve Regional Standings at the time of writing. A spot at BLAST Open London is a great chance for the team to boost that number a little, with appearances at BLAST Bounty and the Esports World Cup 2025 also taking place before then.

If Liquid are to make the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, they need to start winning more games. Simplistic, sure, but it’s the reality of the team’s situation so far. It’s hard to point the finger at any one player here, with all five underperforming from their usual levels. An invite to BLAST Open London 2025 won’t solve all their problems, but it may just be a Major lifeline if they can find some wins there.
BLAST Open London 2025 begins on August 27th, with the LAN Finals taking place in London’s OVO Arena between September 5th and 7th.
