A cheap CS2 skin just sold for $45,000, and this is why

Those in deep in the world of CS2 skins will know that not all of them are created equal. From rarity to float value, there are tons of things that impact the price of a CS2 skin. On the surface, the logic is simple: the rarer it is, the more expensive it is to buy. But one recent cheap CS2 skin has defied all logic with an eye-watering price tag.

A cheap CS2 skin just sold for $45,000, and this is why

Lowest float MAC-10 Bronzer sells for $45,000

This skin in question is the MAC-10 Bronzer, which, in Factory New, typically sells on Steam for around $0.12. However, according to Yikspiks on X, a particularly low float MAC-10 Bronzer unboxed back in May has sold for a crazy $45,000 price tag. Even for the best CS2 skins, this one has a particularly insane price given its perceived value.

So, what has possessed someone to pay $45,000 for a skin that (in theory) should only cost a few cents? Well, perhaps I undersold it when I called it “a particularly low float MAC-10 Bronzer.” According to CSFloat’s database, this MAC-10 Bronzer has the lowest float of any skin in history, at 0.00000000010431. It’s purely a collector thing, wanting to have the lowest float skin in the entire game as a status symbol – even if it’s a cheap CS2 skin in the first place.

MAC-10 Bronzer Low Float
Would you pay $45k for this MAC-10 Bronzer?

The MAC-10 Bronzer was first released as part of the Spring Forward update back in March, and hasn’t exactly become one of the most sought-after CS2 skins. That only makes $45,000 even more of a wild price for this MAC-10 Bronzer. However, $45k is (incredibly) still on the lower end when it comes to the rarest and most expensive CS2 skins. A Blue Gem Case Hardened Karambit has an estimated $1.5 million price tag, for example.

The idea that the skin could lose thousands in value the moment it loses its status as the #1 lowest-float skin in CS2 is wild. I’m sure we’ll all hear about it if and when it happens.
