We’re approaching one of the biggest events for Apex Legends, the Apex Mid-Season Play Offs. The ALGS might run year-round but it’s only a couple of times a year where we get to see the best teams in one lobby. The mid-season is even bigger this time.
This year, the Apex Mid-Season Play Offs are a much bigger deal. It’s now part of the Esports World Cup. Which has meant a change to the format and also the prize pool has been doubled! Now standing at $2,000,0000. It’s made the competition tense to get here. This is almost another Grand Finals, but happening mid-season. Which teams have made the cut so far?

The Apex Legends Mid-Season Play Offs is nearly here! The highlight of the earlier part of the season, where we see the top teams going head-to-head. Especially important this year with the boost in scale it’s getting from the Esports World Cup. Apex has such a wide field of players though.
So far, we’re pretty far from having the full roster of teams. A number have come in from the ALGS Open. But there’s still regional tournaments to come to lock in a ton more Apex Legends Mid-Season Play Offs. These are all of the ALGS Mid-Season Play Offs teams so far:

Looking at the ALGS Open results, there’s a handful of teams which have already stood out. The biggest is probably Team Falcons who won the open. They also boast ImperialHal on their team, the MVP of the last major tournament and someone often held up as one of the best players Apex Legends has seen.
Falcons team of Zer0, ImperialHal, and Wzltzy has all been together for most of the year now. They’ve gone from strength to strength since late 2024. At the last ALGS Championship they came in 3rd, but rose up to 1st at this year’s open. Coming just a month before the Apex Mid-Season Play Offs it makes them the favorites.
Alliance have also performed well in the Open, and are one of the partnered teams in the game. They’ve had Hakis as their centerpoint since 2020, and Effect since 2022. While unlucky is a more recent addition, they have one of the longer running teams in the game. They were the winners of last year’s Esports World Cup too. Since the Mid-Season Play Offs are in the same slot they’re closest we have to returning champions. They also came 2nd at the 2024 Championship. Will such consistency to their squad, they look like strong picks at the Apex Mid-Season Play offs too.
Of course, all of these players will be up against tons of the best Apex esports players from around the world once the Mid-Season Play offs actually begin. The eventual winners could be one of the squads yet to win their slot.

Once they’re through, how will the Apex Legends Mid-Season Play Offs actually play? As a Mid-Season Major and EWC event, there’s a big schedule. Things start with pools. Teams get split into two groups of 20 to play in ten games. The top 7 of each group go to finals, the bottom 3 are eliminated, and the rest go into a second round. This Round 2 repeats the process with the top 6 moving forward to the finals.
Once we actually get to the Apex Mid-Season Play-Offs, it’s a familiar Match Point system to the Championship at the end of the year. All the teams in a single lobby, once a team gets fifty points, the race is on to win a game. Then, they’ll win the tournament. It can mean the tournament will run on for some time if no team secures their win. It can come down to sudden death, with multiple teams just waiting for a win. A unique way to structure a Battle Royale esports tournament though, putting the focus back on coming 1st out of 100 players.
The ALGS Mid-Season Play Offs going to begin in July, running from the 10th to the 13th. However, qualification is still ongoing. If you want to follow which teams make it up to the Apex Mid-Season Play Offs, there’s the Pro League tournaments to look at first. These are continuing on through June to decide the last of the teams which will make the Play Offs.
