There are some clear trends. However, it is relatively spread out. Players are probably getting a real reflection of their skills through Ranked mode. Although, there are some which are much bigger than others. The ranked mode can be tougher or easier depending on the Apex meta at any given time too.
What’s the Biggest Rank in Apex Legends?
The biggest rank in Apex Legends right now is Diamond. Specifically, it’s Diamond III. At the moment, there are 13% of players with a rank in Diamond III! That’s by far the biggest slice of the player base.
The other Diamond divisions of the Apex Ranks aren’t that small either. Diamond IV has 8.5% of players. Diamond II has 6% of players too. In all, Diamond players are more than 25% of the player base. It’s a much bigger slice than any other rank.
Why exactly are players ending up stuck in Diamond? It might be something to do with the way rank ups work. Players can progress through to this level, but Diamond might be where competition gets much steeper and raking up gets harder.
How Many People are in Apex Predator?
The highest Rank in Apex Legends is Apex Predator. This is one of the smallest ranks in the game. With less than half a 1% of players reaching this level!
Ranks like Diamond might have a lot of players, but there’s a major drop off after this. By the time we get to Apex Predator, it’s more difficult. Getting to this rank is definitely a bigger achievement. The Apex Legends Rank distribution gets thin here.
How Many People are in Master?
The next down in the Apex Ranks from Apex Predator is Master. This rank is quite a bit bigger than Apex Predator. It’s a bit under 2.5% of the player base.
The drop off here is just as steep, considering how big Diamond is. It’s still going to push you beyond the average player’s skill level though.
What’s the Smallest Apex Ranks?
Out of the Apex Legends Rank Distribution, which are the ranks with the fewest players? These are some of the Rookie Ranks. Multiple divisions of Rookie have less players than Apex Predator.
This might sound weird, the bottom ranks having less people in them than the very top. However, Rookie is more of a training area than a rank. Bronze makes sense as a starting point for the Apex Legends Ranks, with Rookie as a tier just to get used to everything.
After this, Silver has more players than Gold, and gold has more than silver. It continues to increase with Platinum, before peaking in Diamond. It’s a pretty natural curve to the Apex Legends ranks.
Active Players Skewing Rankings
One thing to keep in mind with the Apex Legends Rank distribution is that it’s the players who are actively playing Ranked. Others, either don’t have a rank, or give up before reaching a level that accurately displays their skill level. Since players might stop playing Ranked before they reach their limit, they could have a lower rank than is accurate.
This doesn’t mean we can’t learn anything from the Apex ranks distribution though. It’s the best look we have at the skill levels of Apex Legends though. With the distribution, you can tell exactly where you sit compared to the player base. If you’re diamond or above, you’re in the better half of Apex players! Maybe not quite on the level of the ALGS players, but definitely stronger than average.
