In a move that has stunned the VALORANT community, Petra “Petra” Stoker, one of the most accomplished players in EMEA, has officially announced her retirement from competitive esports. After five years in VALORANT and nearly a decade across two titles, the G2 Gozen veteran confirmed she is stepping away following unsuccessful contract negotiations with the organization.

“G2 and I weren’t able to find an agreement on a new contract, and after a lot of thinking, I’ve decided not to continue my career with a new team,” Petra wrote in her public statement. The decision, she emphasized, was the hardest she has ever made.

Petra’s Retirement: No Contract Agreement, No Rebuild Elsewhere

While retirement statements are often filled with references to burnout or shifting priorities, Petra’s message is unusually direct: she wanted to stay with G2 Gozen. However, the org and player could not reach a deal, and she chose not to pursue offers elsewhere.

By explicitly stating, “I’ve decided not to continue my career with a new team,” Petra made clear that her retirement is not a temporary break or search for better opportunities, it’s a full stop triggered by an impasse with her long-time home organization. Her exit punctuates a turbulent 2025 in which the team cycled rosters, benched and reinstated players, and struggled for consistency. She herself was benched this year, but came back to ensure her team’s trophy win during Game Changers EMEA Stage 3, as well as a fourth-place finish at this year’s GCC in Seoul.

A Career Across Two Eras: CS Beginnings and VALORANT Glory

Before becoming synonymous with VALORANT’s Game Changers circuit, Petra made her mark in CS:GO. She won events like the Copenhagen Games 2018 – Female, DreamHack Showdown Valencia 2019, DreamHack Showdown Summer 2020: Europe, and DreamHack Showdown Winter 2020: Europe.

“I will never forget my CS:GO career. That’s where it all began, and those moments shaped me into the player and person I am today,” she reflected. Her experience in CS provided the foundation for the discipline, gamesense, and consistency she later became known for in VALORANT.

Her transition to Riot’s FPS coincided with the birth of the Game Changers ecosystem, and Petra quickly became one of its defining competitors. Her transition to VALORANT in 2020 placed her at the front of the competitive women’s scene. Joining G2 Gozen in its earliest iteration, she became synonymous with the roster that dominated the EMEA region, particularly during the 2021–2023 era where they collected title after title with near-mythic consistency. Petra’s résumé includes 10 VALORANT titles, among them the historic 2022 Game Changers World Championship, a landmark moment for the scene and for G2 Gozen’s legacy.

Across five years, this record cements G2 Gozen as not just a strong roster, but one of the most consistently elite programs in Game Changers history, with Petra at the center of nearly every title run.

G2 Gozen’s dominance in Europe is inseparable from Petra’s presence. Her Initiator play, veteran discipline, and adaptability helped define the team’s identity. Even in years where the roster shifted or struggled, Petra remained the stabilizing force, one of the most flexible players, and a key heartbeat of the project. As the team faced increasing pressure in 2024 and 2025 from newer teams who were catching up, her leadership was often cited by analysts as a key factor in keeping G2 competitive. Her departure now leaves a significant vacuum ahead of the 2026 season.

A Promise to Stay Connected

Despite the painful circumstances, Petra said, “I want to say from the bottom of my heart how grateful I am for the support I’ve received throughout all these years… To everyone who believed in me, and especially to my teammates… thank you. You gave me some of the best memories of my life, both inside and outside the server.”

She also reassured fans that she won’t disappear entirely: “Even though I’m stepping away from competing, I won’t disappear completely… I still love this scene, this community, and this game and I will find my own way to stay connected. I’ll see you on my Twitch channel!”

With that, one of EMEA’s most influential competitors turns the page on an extraordinary chapter.
