Rainbow Six Siege X is one of the most challenging and unforgiving FPS games on the market. As such, the game’s ranked mode is one of the hardest to climb. But what are the Rainbow Six Siege X ranks, how much do you need to rank up, and can anyone break into those top spots?

All Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks Explained and how to Climb

In this guide, we’ll go over the list of ranks, what you need to break into the next section, and anything you can do to improve your game.

All Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks

Siege has eight ranks: Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, and Champion. Copper through Diamond are split into five levels each, from V to I. Champion stands alone.

Here’s the full list with rough MMR equivalents from before Ranked 2.0:

Note that the old MMR system is no longer in use and is shown below purely for reference, to give an idea of how it translates to the new system.

Rank Divisions MMR Range (Old System)
Copper V to I 0–1600
Bronze V to I 1600–2099
Silver V to I 2100–2599
Gold V to I 2600–3100
Platinum V to I 3200–4099
Emerald V to I Added in Ranked 2.0
Diamond V to I 4100–4999
Champion None 5000+

How Ranking Works in Rainbow Six Siege X

Ubisoft dropped the update to Rainbow Six Siege X Ranked in December 2022 (dubbed Ranked 2.0). Ranked progression is tied to your Ranked Points (RP), while matchmaking is tied to Skill, working as a hidden MMR system to make sure you play with the correct people.

In effect, this will mean even if you are in Gold but are on a run of X wins in a row, you will start to play with Platinum players, for example, as the game works out how good you are. This MMR takes into account your history, your operator performance, and how well you play in a team. It takes the game some time to work out your skill, but in theory, over time, it should mean your matches are fairer.

Your actual rank works as a visual tracker for your skill, and if you rank for the first time, you will likely get dropped into Bronze or Silver. If you keep winning, it is possible, though unlikely, to see a Silver or Gold player thrown into a Champion lobby. Remember, Rainbow Six Siege X has cross progression, you can see both PC and console ranks (due to crossplay being switched on or off)

Ranked Changes for Operation Tenfold Pursuit

A number of changes are coming ahead of Year 11, with Ubisoft looking to change the ways skills are affected. These include the following:

“Ranked matchmaking now uses Visual Rank and Squad Size as a matchmaking parameter alongside skill, improving fairness and consistency across matches. Skill will remain the primary parameter for matchmaking, with Visual Rank being used as a secondary parameter. Squads of mixed rank will take skill and the Max Rank of the Squad into consideration. We appreciate the feedback on our Matchmaking process from our players, and will continue to improve based on feedback.”

A look at rank rewards for Champion

Based on stats from Siege Tracker (November 2025), this is based on historic data.  It’s worth noting though that as a season comes to an end, the number of people in Champion, for example, balloons to nearly 8000 people. The Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks do change around as the game ages:

  • Bronze IV is the most common rank (7.77% of players)

  • Bronze V is next (7.69%)

  • Silver and Gold thin out quickly (3–5% per tier)

  • Platinum drops to around 1%

  • Emerald sits between 0.95% and 0.65% across its five levels

  • Diamond falls below 0.5%

  • Champion sits at just 0.2%, around 510 players

How to Climb Ranks in Siege X

It’s important to remember that in Siege, there is no fast way to climb. Those at the very top are playing 1000+ games a season to get to Champion. Here are a few tips to focus on for the Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks:

Play with intent

You’re already Level 50 when you enter Ranked, so you know the basics. This part is about cleaning up mistakes.

Use your weapons properly

Lower sensitivity helps with precise guns. Faster DPI helps long-range guns or weapons with a wider spread, like the SMG-11.

Learn your Operators

Attackers like Ace, Ash, Thermite, Brava, Maverick, and Blackbeard all bring different tools. Defenders do the same. Pick roles that suit what your team needs.

Play for the objective

K/D isn’t what gets you RP; winning rounds do. Focus on the fundamentals of the game, planting the bomb, defusing, defending your area etc.

Queue with dependable teammates

Queueing with a friend or a group of people is a great way to climb, especially if you have defined roles in your group.

Learn the maps

There are a lot of maps in Siege X, so it’s important to learn the ways to play them. With the release of Operation Tenfold Pursuit, the competitive map pool in Rainbow Six Siege X will be Bank, Border, Chalet, Clubhouse, Consulate, Kafe Dostoyevsky, Lair, Nighthaven Labs, and Fortress. Skyscraper was replaced with Fortress for this season as the map is being reworked.

Use Training Grounds to walk the maps at your own pace before jumping into Ranked.

Start early in the season

Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks weigh early-season games higher, so a strong start helps you settle faster and can remove a lot of the pressure later on.

Rank Decay and Season Reset in Siege X

Like any game with ranks, Siege X has ways to reset your progress each season. Once a new season starts, everyone is put back to Copper V. Again, this is visual, with your “MMR” still being intact. So if you end in Champion, you will quickly find your way back to the higher ranks.

If you take an extended break, note that your Skill rating (MMR) can start to drop off. Once you come back, you can find your rank changing as your Skill and Rank don’t match, so stay active to avoid that. Rainbow Six Siege X Ranks only reward active players!
