Games of the Future 2025 MLBB Group Stage Recap

The Games of the Future 2025 MLBB Group Stage delivered two days of nonstop action as 16 international teams clashed in a high-stakes opening phase of the tournament. Using a modified GSL format, each group featured Best-of-Three series where only the top 3 teams will move on to the next round.

Only the top team in each group earned a direct Playoffs spot, while the next two advanced to the Play-Ins and the bottom team bowed out of contention. The Games of the Future tournament is the last stop before the M7 MLBB World Championship, held in the month of January.

Group A saw Aurora Gaming PH (RORA) emerge as the most composed and efficient squad as they are the only team to go directly to the playoffs undefeated. The only Filipino representatives swept through their matches without ever dropping a game to any team in their group. Their clean macro play and disciplined team fighting allowed them to dictate the pace of every series they played.

Behind them, Verso Time found themselves powerless to stop the Filipino squad from securing top seed, but still earning a Play-Ins spot to still compete. The remaining two teams, Team Vamos and E7, had to go against one another to earn the last Play-Ins spot from Group A. Ultimately, E7 didn’t have a chance to take a game off of Team Vamos, leading to their early exit from the competition

ONIC showcased their experience on the international stage, navigating the upper bracket with confidence to finish among the group’s top teams. Their drafting flexibility and decisive late-game calls proved vital in closing out series, especially their game 2 against DianFengYaoGuai (DFYG). ONIC was on the verge of getting swept by DFYG but experience really made the difference in late game decision making. DFYG will still go to the Play-Ins even after their loss against ONIC.

Homebois also easily defeated INFLUENCE RAGE, netting them the last Play-Ins spot for Group B. Group B’s results highlighted just how previous emerging regions are catching up to the best teams in the world.

Meanwhile, Team Spirit fought their way through the last chance qualifying match against The MongolZ, keeping their campaign alive with a crucial elimination match win. The Mongolz, despite flashes of potential, were unable to recover after early losses and exited the tournament in fourth place.

The Last MLBB Playoffs before M7

Across all four groups, the Games of the Future 2025 MLBB Group Stage showcased the growing parity of international competition. More Third Party international tournaments, like the recent Winter Is Coming Tournament, are emerging for teams to have more avenues for training for the world championships

With the Group Stage complete, attention now turns to the Play-Ins and Playoffs. Teams advancing will face a single-elimination gauntlet, where every series could mark the end of their tournament run. As the competition tightens, expect sharper drafts, deeper hero pools, and even higher-stakes clashes as teams chase the Games of the Future 2025 MLBB championship.
