Following the convincing win against G2 Esports in the third-place match decider, we spoke with T1 Gumayusi in the EWC post-match interview with the media.

T1 Gumayusi on G2’s performance: “They seemed a bit nervous, especially in the first game”

More than a year and a half ago, Gumayusi spoke about his “ramen theory“, where ADCs were seen as the “eggs” of the dish, explaining how they are not essential to but make a huge difference when two teams are on a similar level. I wanted to take the chance before he flies back to Korea for the LCK to hear whether his thoughts have changed.

T1 Gumayusi EWC Interview

Below is the transcript of the interview with Gumayusi. The questions and answers were translated from English to Korean.

Can you share with us G2 Hans Sama’s performance?

Gumayusi: I watched their match against GEN yesterday, and they performed really well. Today, they seemed a bit nervous, especially in the first game. Hans Sama played very well during the laning phase. In the second game, I managed to get a favorable pick based on the draft, and I also found a good timing to engage, which worked out well.

Back in 2023, you previously said that ADCs are the “egg in the ramen dish”. Do you still think this applies to this season’s competitive play?

Gumayusi: I’ve said things like this before, but in the current patch, AD carries really need to establish early control. Things like map control and dragon control are very important. I think it’s quite a crucial role now—you need to start playing through bot lane right from the beginning. When making ramen, you need to start by boiling water. In the same way, the game has to start from the bot lane right from the beginning.

Can you share a message with the fans? Possibly in English!

Gumayusi: Tomorrow (Gumayusi meant today, ed.) I win G2, thank you for everything, cheers!

T1 will now have a few days to rest before they head back to South Korea and kick off their LCK Rounds 3-5, the third part of the LCK 2025 season.
