During the Worlds Media Day, we spoke with PSG Karsa as he returns to Worlds, talking about why PSG can be a dark horse in Swiss stage, his reunion with 369 and Knight, and his thoughts on the 2025 Worlds Song.
Davide: How you’re doing? I remember you getting very emotional on stage during the LCP when you qualify for Worlds,
Karsa: I haven’t been at World Championship for four years on a starting roster and I believe the reason why I would like to just keep playing on stage is I [had] a strong feeling of coming to the World Championship once again.
I was just so excited and I cried on stage because we were so one step away from the international tournaments this year (First Stand and MSI). During that specific game, we made a good comeback with one teamfight so I released all the pressure on stage.
And before that, I had a video together with 369 and where we said we needed to come back to the World Championship together. So because of that, if I couldn’t do it, I [would’ve] definitely left many regrets.
Davide: You mentioned 369, I saw you took pictures with 369 and Knight, the guys from 2020 TES.

Karsa: We were teammates five years ago and for now they had so many changes in terms of their playstyles and we are in different teams. So coming into World Championship is very hard to make the prediction of the performance on stage. It really depends on the team’s performance. But I really hope they can have an even more aggressive playstyle because I feel like, for now, they play quite safely.
Davide: CFO has publicly said that their scrims with the LPL and LCK teams haven’t been great. Apparently they have like a 0% win rate.
Karsa: I must say, from the beginning, we definitely didn’t have a good momentum. We, no matter who we practiced against, couldn’t have a really good performance.
But after coming to Beijing, I must say we’ve got a super smooth preparation. And because of that, I really think that maybe for the Swiss [stage], we got the opportunity to qualify for the next stage. And hopefully on stage we can really show the performance like we did in scrims and show confidence and momentum.
Davide: Does that have to do something with the Bo1 format? Because based on how I’ve seen you guys perform on stage, it looks like you’re more comfortable playing best-of-ones,
Karsa: Yeah, no matter in best-of-three or best-of-five [previously], we always got a victory in the first game and then our opponents would reverse sweep us. So I feel the first game could be the one that we can really master and get confidence in. This could be our advantage.
Davide: The LCP has been performing quite well internationally this year, and it reminded me of the 2015 Flash Wolves team that you were a part of.
Karsa: I think it’s mainly because of the good performance of CFO on the international stage. They got a very good run at First Stand and also at MSI, they went to five games against T1.
So because of that, people have a very high expectation from CFO’s performance. But we are the third seed, so people don’t have really that much expectation on us. And some people criticized us [before], since we didn’t win any single of best-of-five and we got a chance to qualify for world championship.
But I believe in the Swiss stage, we still got the opportunity. I don’t want to have other people’s statements to affect our performance and our mental preparation. I think all the expectations people have [are] towards CFO, they deserve that.
Davide: Riot posted the Worlds Song yesterday,
Karsa: It’s a bit hard to tell. I listened to the song. Personally speaking, I prefer, you know, the hype songs like the 2015 Worlds Song, Legends Never Die or the theme song from the season 8 (RISE) or 9 (Phoenix). But this year’s one is softer.
Karsa: I want to thank the fans for the support. Regardless of the result, we will show you guys our gameplay and hope to get the wins in the Bo1s.
