LEC Summer 2025 Groups Announced

EMEA will be the last among the major leagues to start their third split of the 2025 competitive season. With the first match taking place on August 2, the new group phase of the LEC Summer Split will see the 10 LEC squads split into two groups of five, each playing a single round robin within their group, featuring best-of-three matches.

According to the new format, the top four teams from each group will then qualify for the playoffs, where teams will compete for one of three available seeds for Worlds, which has recently confirmed its schedule and locations. The top two from the previous Spring Split, Movistar KOI and G2 Esports, were automatically seeded in the two groups, with the following teams picking their group based on the Spring Split standings. Once one group was completed, the remaining teams were then assigned to the other group.

The groups are more or less even

Overall, the two groups seem to be quite balanced, although Group 1 might be a little more competitive due to the presence of Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp, as well as mid-pack teams like GIANTX and Team Vitality.

NAVI, the new team that acquired Rogue’s slot, is also seeded in the first group and will be put to a serious test as they hope to start their LEC tenure with a strong result. Expect MKOI and KC to be at the top, with the other three fighting for the last remaining slots.

A similar split can be made in Group 2, as G2 Esports has looked visibly stronger at the recent Esports World Cup and might gap the rest of the competition. The only team with the potential to upset G2 is Fnatic, and it will likely depend on how the new mid laner Poby performs on stage.

Team Heretics might have an easier time finishing in the top four, having maintained the same lineup from the previous split, while SK Gaming and Team BDS will have to hope that the recent roster changes will raise their respective ceilings.

The LEC will kick off on August 2, although the schedule is yet to be confirmed. LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov has previously stated that the schedule will be finalized at the end of July. Tickets can be purchased on the official LEC website.
