With Patch 25.16 officially released on the live servers, here are the changes planned for Patch 25.17, the start of Season 3.
Patch 25.16 has gone live on August 13 and the patch came with a long series of champion buffs and nerfs that has caused a major shift in the meta, especially in solo queue.
Now that we’re one week into the new update, Riot Games designer Phroxzon has detailed the initial preview of Patch 25.17 as the dev team continues to bring more champion changes to create change within the meta.
More buffs are coming in compared to nerfs, with more attention given to non-popular champions on pro play. There are also some intriguing jungle-focused buffs to champions like Vayne and Sett, giving a few more options that could be seen in non-competitive play.

Considering that we have the full preview out, the most notable changes for competitive play are the buffs to Senna and Gwen. Getting an additional 20 healing on her Q at max rank will make a major difference later in the game, while Gwen is getting tagged with some R nerfs that will lower her ability to navigate through tough matchups.
Other interesting buffs for solo queue are coming from Morgana and Kassadin. The support champion is getting increasing damage and lower mana cost on her W, which will likely push her priority in the lower ranks.
For Kassadin, the higher AP ratios will make him scale up and become more relevant at a faster rate. I’m also looking at the Sett, Nilah, and Vayne changes: even though it shouldn’t make them ground breaking, we’ll have to see if players are willing to test them out in the jungle, just like it happened with Nautilus in the current patch.
