With Patch 25.15 officially released on the live servers, here are the changes planned for the next update, the League of Legends Patch 25.16.
Patch 25.15 has been officially released on July 30 with a fairly good list of champion changes that should shake up the meta, especially in solo queue and at the highest level of competitive play.
Among the notable changes, we have nerfs to support champions like Alistar and Braum, as well as nerfs to performing champions like Master Yi, Pantheon, and Irelia. The biggest highlight from the previous patch, however, is the small rework to Rek’Sai, as Riot is planning to turn her into a damage-oriented jungler.
Riot Games designer Riot Phroxzon has detailed the initial preview of the new patch, which includes a long list of changes, especially for junglers. Not only are there nerfs to strong performers like Trundle, Jarvan IV, and Xin Zhao, but there are also some interesting buffs to less popular champions like Sylas and Nautilus, who should get improved jungle clears.
The game designer also expressed himself on the state of the game, which has been deemed too balanced by members of the community.
While he agreed that there are opportunities when the game is in a great balance, he also said that the Riot dev team has to be mindful of ‘regular players’, who are more sensitive to the rate of change. He also added that there are no plans for major shakeups outside of season starts, so we shouldn’t be expecting that much of a shift until the Spirit Blossom season ends.
In the meantime, however, the dev team is bringing a series of heavy nerfs to the jungle, as it is currently too strong.
According to Phroxzon, the team is quite happy with how Yunara has landed, and there are no target changes for the time being. Check out the full list of changes with related numbers below.
With the full list of changes published, there are quite a few interesting things worth pointing out.
First it’s the jungle meta: many of the current popular champions like Trundle and Jarvan IV are getting hit, especially the troll, who will slowly fade out.
His buffs and nerfs are usually very linear and once those go live, he will drop in priority. Jarvan IV and Xin Zhao have been evergreen picks over the past months and it’s probably a good time to see them fade away, just it happened with Vi.
Among the buffed champions, there are two I’m looking at: the first one is Brand, who will gain some relevance in the jungle as an AP option, and Sylas, who is getting a much stronger jungle clear than before.
It will be interesting to see how those two land but the jungle meta is expected to go under big shifts in the coming patches.
The other interesting changes for me are Sion and Qiyana, who are getting some underrated buffs. The Q damage increase will heavily improve her lane trades and overall snowball potential. With more AP options in the jungle and top lane on the rise, she might find more play time in solo queue.
