Gen.G announced that Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, will be re-signing with Gen.G for the 2026 season. This announcement was followed only a day after Gen.G’s announcement of Canyon’s contract expiration.
Prior to Gen.G’s announcement, an exclusive report from Sports Seoul announced Canyon’s re-signing. Despite Canyon receiving offers from several teams, Gen.G and the player came to an agreemenet to work together for another year through further negotiations that lasted throughout the evening of November 18th.
Canyon’s accolades undoubtedly make him one of the best junglers in the World. From his first Worlds win back in 2020, back to back MSI champions, to becoming a 5-time LCK champion, his legacy has motivated countless Junglers to date. While his 2025 season was an incredible success, Worlds was a different story for Canyon, as he was denied his road to the Summoner’s Cup by this year’s finalists, KT Rolster, in the semifinals.

Despite all his achievements, Canyon’s goal has always been the same; to lift the Summoner’s Cup once again as he once did in 2020. And with this recent announcement, Gen.G looks to run it back with the same roster of Kiin/Canyon/Chovy/Ruler/Duro for 2026.
However, they will be under new leadership, with Ryu “Ryu” Sang-wook at its center. Will they be able to break their Worlds semifinals curse that continues to haunt them and finally lift the one trophy that continued to evade him?
