Only three days since the new season hit the live servers with Patch 26.1, Riot Games has released a micropatch hotfix to tune down some of the outperforming champions.
The announcement was made by Riot Games designer Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison, who explained that the patch landed “within bounds but nothing crazy.” Nonetheless, there were some outliers that the game developer immediately hit.
Among the nerfed champions, we have Aphelios and Kayle, who saw major success with the start of the new season, thanks to the accelerated scaling. Moreover, Rammus also got hit after finding a powerful synergy with the new item Protoplasm Harness.
Essence Reaver also received a nerf due to its outperforming stats: Riot added that they will leave Essence Reaver users as they are and observe the impact of the item nerf. According to Phroxzon, game times are slightly up by about 1.5% on average, but long and short games are the same. He also added that tank junglers are performing well and that power levels within the jungle are a bit off, but nothing worth micropatching.
Riot also took the opportunity to buff up three champions, giving some love to Graves, Tryndamere, and Quinn. You can find all the exact number changes in the section below. Next week, the game designer will also share his thoughts on the roles’ power since it’s “a bit too early to tell right now”.
