The 2026 season has officially started, and while most of the players are grinding in scrims ahead of official games, there are a few who are currently without a team. Here are some of the strongest players who ended up free agents at the end of the offseason, and why they could make a return in the coming months.
Doinb is once again without a team, and while that is likely his own choice after not finding a competitive team for 2026, the guy is still one of the best LPL mids. He’s not the flashy, 1v9 type of player, but he is usually able to raise the team’s potential by a notch thanks to his leadership and in-game shotcalling. If he were to ever return to professional play, it would likely only be with a good enough offer and project.

If one former world champion not landing a team would be normal, two would probably start to be a worrying sign, especially when the guy won two world championships. BeryL wasn’t able to find a new home in the LCK after a somewhat disappointing 2025 campaign on Dplus Kia. Always creative and willing to think outside the box, BeryL has, however, been struggling with his consistency in recent times. There could be a chance we get to see him if someone wanted to make changes in the bottom lane, but it’s more likely that BeryL will spend time playing more Genshin Impact than usual this season.
After getting knocked out of Worlds 2025, Bwipo ended up parting ways with FlyQuest. Initially picked up by Trayton’s team, French Flair for the LFL, Bwipo ended up getting replaced due to the veteran rule in the ERL. As a result, the guy, who announced his plan to roleswap to the jungle, is now still a free agent and waiting for a call. We’ll have to see if someone wants to pick him mid-way into the season…

When it comes to the LPL, this is probably one of the biggest losses of talent in recent times. While he was never among the very best ADCs, Light was often just a tier below them and solid enough to bring good results. While it makes sense for Weibo Gaming to choose Elk after the latter left BiliBili Gaming, the fact that Light wasn’t able to find a team to compete is quite surprising. Among all the free agents in this list, I’m expecting him to be a priority if someone were looking for a new marksman.
The last name on our list is Driver, who is surprisingly teamless after a successful season on CTBC Flying Oyster in the LCP. The top laner parted ways with the team at the end of the year, putting an end to the six-man roster that became symbolic for CFO. Despite new teams joining the Asian-Pacific league and several roster changes from most LCP teams, Driver is still a free agent. Given his 2025 form, this is a huge blow for the LCP region, which loses yet another promising young talent.
