  1. Use Third-Party Tools

The most popular one that players use is called Deceive, which can be downloaded through their website.

How to appear offline with Deceive:

  1. Download Deceive – choose the latest version of Deceive available.
  2. Install and Run: Once installed, launch Deceive.
  3. Launch League of Legends – to appear offline, launch the client through Deceive.

Be aware that there might be some bugs or crashes due to the use of third-party tools given the lack of support from Riot Games.

  1. Set Your Chat Status to Invisible

Even though this option doesn’t make you entirely invisible, you will appear as unavailable on your friends’ list. It’s mainly used to hide your chat presence, friends will still see your online status in-game.

Steps:

  1. Open the Riot Games client.
  2. Go to the Social Tab on the right-hand side.
  3. Click your profile picture.
  4. Select the “Invisible” option.
  1. Log Out of the Chat System

While you won’t appear offline in League of Legends fully, this is a quick fix for players who don’t want to use the chat system.

Steps:

  1. Open the Riot Games client.
  2. Go to the Settings menu.
  3. Select “Sign out of Chat.”

This will disconnect you from the chat service while still allowing you to queue and play games.

  1. Use the Firewall Method (more technical)

While it’s not advised to tweak the game files, this method can block the Riot client’s communication with its social servers. It’s a bit more complicated compared to the other methods listed, so proceed only if you have good technical understanding.

Steps:

  1. Access Firewall Settings – Open your PC’s firewall settings.
  2. Create a New Rule that blocks internet access for “RiotClientServices.exe” and “LeagueClient.exe”.
  3. Test the Connection – Try one game to see if the method worked as intended. You might have to troubleshoot if other issues arise.

Why do you want to be Offline in League of Legends?

The reasons can be various and diversified, but the main ones are usually:

  • Focusing on your own gameplay – you want to fully concentrate on your ranked games and don’t want to be distracted by friends or unwanted messages.
  • Privacy – You just don’t want others to know that you’re online.
  • Avoiding Social Obligations – if you’re often playing with friends, there might be times when you don’t want to feel forced to respond to their invites.

While the game’s client doesn’t have a self-implemented mode to go offline, there are some methods to remove your online presence.
