One of the most unique formats on the roster each season are the Fortnite Ranked Cups. A tournament for everyone. It’s an event without a cash prize, but with exclusive cosmetics that are still worth grinding for.
For a lot of players, the Ranked Cups will be their first steps into the world of competitive format. Although, for some it’s just a start and for others a technicality and try and unlock their cosmetics for the season. Contributing to the tournaments needed to enter Fortnite events for real money, the Ranked Cups are a great place to start. They can get more competitive too, especially in the higher ranks. This is how the Fortnite Ranked Cups work:

Players can take part in the Ranked Cups to join esports in any rank. It’s a rare tournament that’s fully open. There’s been some changes in Chapter 6 Season 3 too. In the past, everyone was divided up by rank. Now, there’s mixed lobbies but skill-based matchmaking should keep things fair.
The Ranked Cups happen over three hours. Players can get up to 10 games in during this period. At the end of the session, players who pass the points threshold will get the free cosmetics. This season, Ranked Cups are available in all three major formats. There’s Solos, Trios, and Duos. The big difference here is just team size, it doesn’t make a difference to how the tournament plays.
These events are usually divided up into different ranks. However, to deal with matchmaking issues that aspect has been dropped this time. Now, players will be in one big lobby. However, matchmaking should prioritize competitors in your rank other others.
The Fortnite Ranked Cups scoring system is pretty similar to the other events this season. There are only two things that give you points; placement and eliminations. There’s a lot of points for high placement, like wins. With lower points for mid-game deaths and eliminations.
The Prizes on offer for the Fortnite Ranked Cups are a little different from most tournaments. You can’t earn any cash here. However, you can get a cosmetic. Players often look for any angle to get free Fortnite cosmetics and this event is one of the easiest.
A unique Fortnite Ranked Cup glider is given away each season. The exact color and styling of the cosmetic will look different if you manage to win it in Unreal than Bronze. Quite the motivation to grind, provided you’re good enough to get there in the first place.
The Ranked Cup reward is always a unique version of the Victory Umbrella. A glider which is themed for each Fortnite season. The prize here is the same glider, but in gold. A special prize for getting enough points. Players have to get 50 points or more in the tournament. It only takes one good game to get there! These Brellas never come back. The Fortnite Ranked Cups are the only way to get them.

That’s how the Fortnite Ranked Cups are going to work, but when can you catch one? They’ll be taking part really regularly, even as tournaments like the FNCS are running. These are the dates when the Fortnite Ranked Cups are currently scheduled:
That’s all of the dates! Tons of time between now and when the Fortnite season ends to get involved and compete in the Ranked Cups.
