When is the Next Fortnite Season?

When is the next Fortnite season? It’s no secret the current one hasn’t exactly struck a chord with the player base. If you’re counting down the days, there’s not long to wait anymore! The next Fortnite season release date is finally getting close.

The current Fortnite season has been one of our longest for a while. In older Fortnite seasons, run time varied by tons. Especially back in early Chapter 1. But lately they’ve been pretty standardized. With players knowing exactly when is the next Fortnite season. Since this has been a longer one, it has gotten a little dull. Especially considering that it’s basically been two seasons joined together, neither of which has really struck a chord with the player base.

The next Fortnite season is going to be quite different. Although, it’ll still be tied to a major Fortnite collab, instead of focusing on anything like gameplay. If you want to know when is the next Fortnite season, this is when we’re expecting it:

When is the Next Fortnite Season?

When is the next Fortnite season? It’s currently scheduled to begin on November 12st 2025. Although, we don’t know the exact time. Typically, the last season of a Chapter ends with a live event. Meaning it’ll happen a little earlier in the day than normally. We won’t know the exact time until we get closer to it though. Usually when Fortnite leakers find the release date for the live event, or Epic announce the down time for the Fortnite update which will start the new season.

Chapter 6 of Fortnite has had some shorter seasons. One was a mini season at a month long, and two others were barley over two months. While Chapter 6 Season 1 was longer, that was with a brand-new map. Chapter 6 Season 4 has been longer than all of them so far. It’s our longest season since Chapter 5 Season 1, so in two years.

That wouldn’t be a huge problem if the season was fun. When it launched, it was all about a bug invasion. That’s the meta we saw for the FNCS Global Championship this year. However, it wasn’t the most fun meta. It repeated the biggest problems with every season this Chapter. Lop-sided loot that rewards only a single player each game, tons of other objectives cluttering up things.

As the player count dipped to new lows, Fortnite’s matchmaking went completely off the rails, not able to cope without the huge numbers to pull from. Which made the game worse for remaining players. Which pushed more players away. The game was caught in a feedback loop. Fortnitemares was a chance to fix things. But it’s pretty much one long advert thanks to being so collab focused. The gameplay hasn’t significantly changed, it’s just had things removed. Although, medallions going missing is definitely welcome.

We know when is the next Fortnite season, but will its release actually turn things around?

Will This Season improve Things?

The big story in this Fortnite season is the game’s declining player numbers and especially Battle Royale. But can the next season fix things?

On the one hand, it’s a mini season. These have quick release schedules that hold players’ attention. It’s only four weeks, so the chance to get sick of everything is a bit lower. The Galactic Battle mini season wasn’t great, but this one has a unique map and entire loot pool. It’ll definitely be something interesting.

On the other, it’s too quick for Epic to have made significant changes. They’ve been working years ahead of time for a while now. Which has made new seasons very slow to change significantly. Bigger problems like the medallions can be removed, but the season might still have a hole if something that big is removed. The most recent season has been a hodge podge of quick fixes, like unvaulting extremely popular items and removing key features, without much of a coherent idea. At least we should be back to a proper season next time.

The bigger change might be coming with the next Fortnite Chapter though.

When is the Next Fortnite Chapter?

While the answer to when is the next Fortnite season is November, the Chapter change will be different. This will be a much bigger alteration to Fortnite and we don’t know very much about what will happen just yet. We’ve had some bigger Fortnite leaks for next year, but not too much context.

We’re not expecting the next Fortnite chapter to release until December. Lately, every Chapter has started in December. We get two weeks with the map, followed by two weeks of Winterfest, then in January big things like the FNCS season start. We don’t have any confirmation of the timing for Fortnite Chapter 7 yet. But it’s supposed to be starting at the end of November or start of December.
