The current Fortnite season has already seen tons of tournaments take place, but when does FNCS start properly? We’ve had the Divisional Cups so far. But these are largely qualifying events. Streams are tricky, and there’s no official broadcast. If we want to start seeing all of the best trios competing in the same lobby, we’ve got to wait for the Groups. The FNCS Group Stage and then the Finals are going to start very soon.

When Does FNCS Start? FNCS Groups Start Soon

The FNCS is divided into a few different stages. But the Groups is where things get interesting. In the bigger Fortnite server regions, it’s tricky to even make the finals. The Group Stage means players have to win a game, or be one of just a handful of the most consistent teams to move forward. With players hot dropping each other constantly, and losing half their games this season, we could see some strange results in the FNCS Group stage!

When can you check back in with the FNCS? This is when the next round starts and how the whole thing will work.

When Does FNCS Start?

The FNCS is already partially underway for Chapter 6 Season 3, as we’ve had the Divisional Cups played. However, these are just the opening. The Grand Finals are a little while away, but this weekend the FNCS Group Stage begins.

The FNCS Group Stage will begin at these times depending on your region:

  • EU – July 20th
  • NAC – July 20th
  • NAW – July 26th
  • Brazil – July 26th
  • Asia – July 26th
  • Middle East – July 26th
  • Oceania – July 26th

The Groups will take a few weeks to play out, before we move to the finals of Major 3 itself! This is where the biggest group of fans start watching. But it’ll be the FNCS Group Stage that set the tone for those finals.

When Are the FNCS Finals?

The Group Stage might just be the qualifier, so when can we expect the finals? When does FNCS start its final round? The conclusion takes place at the same time in every region. Big or small, it has all whittled down to one lobby per region. Plus, these finals are the last chance at qualification for most Fortnite Trios! The finals will take place over August 2nd and 3rd!

It’s a two-day event. With one set of six games each day. At the end of both days, the top-ranking teams move forward to the LAN. This is right before the current Fortnite season ends. We’ll have to see what comes next, the meta for C6 S4 will decide how the Global Championship goes down.

FNCS Group Stage Format

The next part of the FNCS will be the Groups. How will these play? It’s a bit of a strange format. There are changes between regions. Plus, it’s tricky to do a Group Stage in a traditional sense in a Battle Royale. We get a nice compromise though.

The FNCS Group Stage divides the players who have made it this far into three groups for NAC and EU, or 2 elsewhere. Each group plays in a single day. They get six games. Then Trios who win each of the six games move on to the finals. At the end of the games, the highest placing teams on the leaderboard who haven’t won a game move forward too.

Each Trio only gets one shot at qualification. Once the Groups are over, they’ll have to fight in a Last Chance Lobby if they missed out. The FNCS Group Stage can be quite interesting depending on how the best Fortnite trios are distributed. Some Majors see a lot of the biggest players grouped together, meaning we get a preview of how the finals will play out.
