The latest Fortnite season is all change in terms of loot, but it did end up having a weird similarity to the one before in one way. Despite a game full of shotguns and other crazy items, the pistol was inexplicably the best item in the game. This time Krusty’s Mr Blasty. An exotic version of one of the best weapons across the game.
Just like the Wrecker Revolver it was a pistol that dominated the first games of the season. While it might have lasted a little longer, we have now had a major nerf for the gun! Players won’t be able to spam this item for wins quite as easily. Although, it’s still one of the best items in the game.
In recent Fortnite seasons, Epic has been quick to nerf the standout guns. While all Mr Blastys are worth crying, they’re one of the best weapons, the Exotic was a lot better. That version of the gun had a special effect only accessible to one player. It seemed like whoever got it, won the game. But with this new nerf that might change, it has been cut down a little bit. This is how it has been altered with the last patch to re-balance the game:
With the last update, we’ve had a bunch of new items added to the game. But the biggest change to the meta might have been to this Exotic gun. Since it’s the best performing so far, it’s had a big nerf.
For one thing, Krusty’s Mr Blasty now has a wider spread. It’s been a pistol which was randomly powerful up close and at range, so the spread will help make it useful only at a more specific range. For some pistol jack-of-all-trade pistols have been a big thing in Fortnite lately, hopefully this change moves them back to the pistol category soon. The other big change is the time between shots.
Players will have to wait longer after every shot. The delay increases as you fire more bullets out of a round of ammo. So, by the bottom it’s really quite slow. This is a big change to the weapon and it’ll make it more of a circumstantial tool rather than something to use constantly.
These nerfs will reign Krusty’s Mr Blasty in a bit. Although, it’ll likely stay one of the best weapons in the game. As a Fortnite Exotic weapon though, it is very rare.

Even with the nerfs to Krusty’s Mr Blasty, we’ve still got quite a pistol based Fortnite meta for this season. It’s a strange evolution of the game. We’ve had this kind of weapon for two seasons in a row now.
For some reason, pistols have been killing it this Chapter. In the past, we’ve had a handful of better pistols. Usually, the ones that have the power and shot count of a sniper, but are pistols. Like the Mammoth. But lately Epic’s been leaning into a new area for pistols. Ones that have the power of a shotgun, the range of an AR, and other benefits. Making them some of the best weapons in the game.
This got extreme last season with the Wrecker Revolver. It began as the only weapon worth carrying. You could even double pump it. Over the season, it was gradually nerfed until it was a bit more balanced. Even at the end of the Fortnite season, it was a strong weapon though. That looked like it had continued with Mr Blasty.
This weapon at launch might have resembled a basic revolver but as a cartoon, then it turned out to be extremely powerful. It featured a ton of shots, had great range, and did a bizarre amount of damage to structures. It could easily kill in a single round if you were accurate enough. What’s more, an exotic version put balloons on people. Making them easy to pick off afterwards.

It meant a ton of players started searching for the Krusty boss in the game as soon as we reached the middle storm circles. However, he spawns randomly. Which meant once he was in the game long enough to appear on the map, there was a pile up around him.
With the new update nerfing Krusty’s Mr Blasty, we should see things calm down. The weapon has dominated the limited Fortnite Simpsons tournaments too. Hopefully, with this nerf the last few events this season will be a bit more balanced! Although, it isn’t a season focused on the esports. So, a bit of a wacky balance is to be expected to a point.
