How does Fortnite gold work in the current season? There’s been a major change to the game in Chapter 7. Gold is no longer a resource that will get racked up over the course of a season. With players maxing it out at most times. Instead, it’s a game-to-game resource now, even in pubs. But Fortnite gold might be the most important mechanic in Battle Royale right now.

How to get Gold Quickly in Fortnite C7

This has been a big change this season. If you’re still playing how gold used to work, you might get left behind. Grinding out gold is important for getting consistent good loot in Fortnite Chapter 7. Not to mention hiring NPCs, and you can even upgrade weapons again. Using it right will be important for winning games.

This is how Fortnite gold works this season and how you can use it to grind things out.

Fortnite Gold Guide

Fortnite Gold has had some big changes in Chapter 7 Season 1. The first is that this isn’t a currency that rolls over anymore. When a game ends, you lose your gold. So, you’ve got to use it in every game if you want to make the most of it. It doesn’t reset at the end of the Fortnite season anymore.

Although, gold is also a lot harder to get now. Unless you’re actually grinding out Fortnite gold, you probably won’t have enough to do much. The things you can buy are much more important now though.

How to Get Gold in Fortnite Chapter 7

In the new Fortnite season, gold has had some major changes. Players won’t get it quite as easily as the past. Since you start at zero each game, it takes a while to grind it out.

The old methods still work to a point. You can get a low amount of gold in the following ways:

  • Some loot containers
  • Tills and Safes
  • Dropping from enemy players

However, this isn’t really enough to afford anything useful in the game. Players will need to go through the new methods instead. You can use the new bulletin boards if they want to get a bit more Fortnite gold. The drops from these quests are way bigger, setting you up for a proper game. Although, it’s a shame supply drops have no loot in them anymore.

These bulletin boards are marked on the mini map this season. They’re devices that look the same as the old boards where you took on bounties to hunt down enemies in Chapter 2. This time they give out different quests, all of which reward you with gold. The quests themselves are pretty much the same as the Shadow Briefings. There’s two of them at the moment, which you get is random. Although, we could see more ways of getting told pop up in future Fortnite updates too.

One is Plunder, where you search out treasure chests. In this one, you get two yellow circles on the map. Head over and find the buried chests. Inside, you’ll get a decent amount of gold.

Then there’s the Supply Drop quests. This one sets off a supply drop for you, inside is a ton of gold. There isn’t a big strategy to this. The drop is visible to everyone, just try and make sure you get it first to get the Fortnite gold.

These objectives are the way to get a ton of gold. There are loads of them on the map. Go through enough of them and you should be able to collect more than enough gold.

What Can You Buy?

That’s how to amass Fortnite gold, but what can you even get with it? There’s a whole bunch of new things to spend it on. Unlike previous seasons, it’s quite important. If you want the best loot, it adds up. This is what you can find this season:

  • Hire NPCs – An extra team mate who can heal, scan, or just help with supplies. Always useful.
  • Upgrade Loot – Dummy NPC can upgrade weapons! Invaluable since otherwise it’s all down to luck and RNG.
  • High Rarity Weapons – The gold weapon vending machines are a fantastic tool this season. Each of these lets you buy a gold weapon. The other weapon vending machines always include a purple too. If they’re selling the best Fortnite weapons, you’ll need gold.

Special meds – Unique meds are only available in vending machines. Like Shield Kegs. Stock up on meds which are a little rarer this season.

Use Gold to Get Ahead

Fortnite Gold is one of the most important items in the current season. You’ll want to collect enough to be able to use it whenever you need. Whether that’s from vending machines for gold weapons, or from the meds vending machine making it much easier to get healed up.

Players with a stockpile of gold have way more options in the game than those who don’t. Prioritize getting enough gold each game. The briefings are the key way to do that.
