The Fortnite 14 event rule is a key part of esports in Chapter 7. it can be a little complicated at first, but if you want to figure out how to play in tournaments, you’ll need to get the hang of it. The Fortnite 14 tournament rule is something new in more recent Fortnite seasons. A part of the tournament requirements to cut down on cheaters. But one that makes the whole thing more difficult for everyone.

The Fortnite 14 event rule is mandatory though. You can’t get around it. Every player, from those at the top of the game to beginners, have to get involved with other tournaments to play in cash events. Meaning players at the top of the game still have to get into cosmetic cups and other tournaments to take part.

The Fortnite 14 Event rule is part of the requirements for joining cash tournaments. It’s a rule for who can take part in cash tournaments, to limit the players in Fortnite epsorts. To take part in higher end events, like cash tournaments. players have to pass this rule. You’ll need to have taken part in 14 different tournaments already.

You pass the rule if you’ve been in 14 other tournaments in the last 180 days. That’s it.

It’s a rule which means all players have to stay part of the wider Fortnite competitive ecosystem, they can’t just turn up for the FNCS and then dip. it also means newcomers must be constantly in tournaments to keep themselves over the Fortnite 14 tournament rule. At times it’s a frustrating one, since it means even the best players show up for minor tournaments like skin cups though.

This means you could run into Peterbot at any time! Although, with the smaller tournaments running multiple lobbies, the pros get a lot more spread out. Why was it implemented?

Why Does the Fortnite 14 Tournament Rule Exist?

Why do players need to keep their account in a rolling total of tournaments at all times? it really comes down to cheaters. That’s why the Fortnite 14 event rule exists.

In more recent chapters, Fortnite cheaters became a major problem. Rather than just ruining pubs lobbies, they were pretty much entirely dedicated to getting into tournaments. Aimbot players pretty much ruined the idea of Zero Build esports.

We saw the game’s Zero Builds tournaments get removed entirely once Epic cut down on cheaters. Rather than address the problem… they chose to remove the incentive for cheating. The Fortnite 14 tournament rule is pretty similar.

It’s a new type of rule which acts to filter players out. It’s not the best directed at cheaters, but is a decent filter. The Fortnite 14 event rule means cheaters have to get through 14 different tournaments, then they can enter cash events.

Epic doesn’t monitor things all the time, it can take a while. Even when there’s huge prize pools, they seem to take a while to find things, like we saw with cheaters derailing a whole year of FNCS in OCE. But the Fortnite 14 tournament rule does mean it’s harder for them to get through. Running through all these events without being discovered is pretty tricky.

The 14 tournament rule should serve to keep cheaters out of cash events. Although, rising the barrier to entry like this hurts real players a bit too. It hasn’t proven entirely effective at keeping cheaters out, but things have gotten better in the year since they launched these extra efforts.

Will the Fortnite 14 Tournament Rule Stick Around?

A lot of the measures that limit Fortnite players in tournaments might not be here forever. Those addressing cheaters specifically are pretty recent. In the case of the Fortnite 14 event rule, it seems like it’ll be a permanent addition. It has helped them catch cheaters more often than they used to.

While we might not get everyone filtered out, especially in non-cash tournaments, this does make it much harder for them to get all the way through. The rule is pretty harmless since players generally need practise.

Playing Fortnite in tournament conditions is pretty rare. The game doesn’t get events with lobbies like the FNCS very often. Ranked, pubs, they’re pretty much useless for pros to practice. They have scrims, but live tournaments are something different. Most players will enter at least 14 tournaments a season just for the practise. Tournament Fortnite is different.

So while the Fortnite 14 event rule might not be perfect, it is a good way to filter out some players who are cheating. With the added benefit that most pros are playing in enough Fortnite esports tournaments to pass the rule anyway.
