In CS2, Case Hardened skins have a unique trait. Each has a total of 1,000 patterns, all of which feature a varying amount of blue on the skin. Those that have more blue than most are considered Blue Gems, a rare variant of these Case Hardened skins, which are then separated into individual tiers. The Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem is one of the most desired of all, due to the knife’s popular design and already eye-watering price.
We’ve already taken a look at the patterns and tiers for the AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gems, and now it’s time to do the same for the Karambit Case Hardened.
The Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem pattern 387 is considered to be pretty much perfect by the community. It’s the only Karambit Blue Gem that covers the entire knife skin, which is why it falls outside of the usual tier system and stands alone at the top of the pile. The side that you’ll see during play is entirely blue, and it has been reported that the 387 pattern Karambit Blue Gem can sell for upwards of $1.5 million to the right bidder. It’s crazy stuff, but its rarity makes it so.
The CS2 Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 1 patterns aren’t quite the 387 in their near-perfect blue coverage of the knife. However, with just nine tier 1 Karambit Blue Gems in total, it’s still a pretty exclusive club. These are the ones with just a little bit of gold – just enough to blemish it in the eyes of collectors, but not enough to make them particularly cheap.
It’s a similar story with the CS2 Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 2 patterns – these ones are still mostly blue, although they may have a few splotches of gold that put them below the tier 1 status. For most, though, these Karambit Blue Gems will be more than good enough.
Most Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 3 patterns have big sections of gold that will really put off purists looking for the best Blue Gems out there. The blue usually isn’t entirely blue, either, with large sections of purple mixed in to these ones. Still, we’re getting into the area where the Karambit Blue Gems start to come down in price to something resembling normal.
There are plenty of CS2 Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 4 patterns that are commonly agreed upon by the community. It’s the same as the rest of the tiers – there’s just less blue and more gold on these Karambit Case Hardened skins. There’s still plenty of blue; otherwise, they wouldn’t be considered Blue Gems. You can expect these to cost a lot less than the Karambit Blue Gems from all the other tiers.
Well, let’s run some numbers. Getting a knife in a case is rare enough – that’s around 1 in 400. Then, the chances of it being a Karambit Case Hardened are 1 in 65. The odds of it being a specific pattern are 1 in 999. All of those things have to happen for it to come to fruition, all at once. That’s before we even consider the odds of it being StatTrak and Factory New. It’s just absurdly rare, and it’s a miracle that any have ever been unboxed before regardless.
Generally, Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gems will sell for upwards of $150,000, which is crazy money. However, the perfect Karambit Blue Gem 387 pattern has an estimated price of $1.5 million.
