The CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem is the crown jewel of AK skins. While the Case Hardened is the skin itself, whether or not one is considered a “Blue Gem” is determined by the amount of blue that covers the exterior. It can heavily affect the value of a Case Hardened AK, with Blue Gems being much more expensive in general.
There are 1,000 seed patterns for the AK-47 Case Hardened, but only some are considered Blue Gems. Those that are, are separated into four tiers based on their quality. We’ve put together a guide so you know every CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem pattern, from the legendary 661 all the way down to the tier 4 offerings!
The pattern 661 AK-47 Case Hardened exists in a tier of its own. It is considered by the CS2 community to be the very best AK-47 Blue Gem, with tons of blue covering the entire top of the gun as well as a chunky section on the magazine. Whether it’s your own personal favorite or not is up to you, but the 661 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem is the most expensive of them all. There’s only one StatTrak CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem 661 pattern in Factory New in existence, and it’s believed to be worth over $1.5 million.
The list of CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 1 patterns is pretty small, with just six generally considered to be in the bracket below the 661. These Blue Gems are pretty close to perfection, with large swathes of blue that would still be servicable for most collectors. However, all of these patterns have a couple of small issues that hold them back from being on that 661 level. Regardless, these are still among the best AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem patterns.
When you’re into the CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 2 patterns, you’re still in a pretty exclusive club. Tier 2 Blue Gem AKs still cost a pretty penny, but usually have a lot less blue than tier 1s. Take the pattern 4 AK-47 Blue Gem, pictured above – there’s a lot of blue along the top of the rifle, but it doesn’t extend all the way across, which is why it can only fall into that tier 2 bracket. There’s still plenty to love here for collectors, but purists may want to look further up the Case Hardened Blue Gem tier chain.
When it comes to CS2 AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 3 patterns, you’ve got plenty to choose from. They’re still considered AK-47 Blue Gems, characterized by large splotches of blue throughout, but there’s considerably more of the gold color to these ones. These aren’t quite the lowest-tier AK Blue Gems, and the price of these Case Hardened skins reflects that.
The AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem tier 4 patterns are technically the worst. Importantly, though, they are still considered AK Blue Gems, so these are what I’d call “budget” options (they still won’t be cheap). The blue is much more sparse on these ones, with a lot more purple ruining the consistent color. The bonus here is that there are a lot more AK-47 Blue Gem patterns in tier 4 than in any other tier.
In CS2, the AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gems are only considered to be a specific set of patterns. Getting the AK Case Hardened as a Classified skin in the CS:GO Weapon Case is already rare enough, but then having it line up with the correct pattern and (hopefully) high wear rating only adds to the rarity. That’s why the StatTrak 661 Factory New Case Hardened AK-47 Blue Gem is estimated to cost around $1.5 million.
The price of an AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem depends entirely on the pattern tier. Even if you’re not too fussed about the wear rating, tiers 1 to 3 will generally set you back a few thousand dollars, although you shouldn’t need to spend above $10,000 (as long as you’re not dead set on Factory New). Down in the tier 4 AK Blue Gems, you should be able to pick one up for under $1,000.
You can get the AK-47 Case Hardened Blue Gem from the CS:GO Weapon Case. As it’s a Classified skin, the Case Hardened has an estimated 3.2% drop chance, but the odds of getting a Blue Gem are much slimmer.
