Counter-Strike 2 and Halo. Two game series that very few would associate with one another, besides the fact that they’re both legacy first-person shooter franchises. But could there be something to be said of a crossover between the two? That’s what modder Froddoya has set out to achieve with Project Misriah, a CS2 Halo mod that asks: what if?
Froddoya made a bit of a splash when he posted a trailer for the mod on X, which aims to port many of Halo’s iconic maps and weapons to CS2. And it’s fair to get excited – I played a little in Deathmatch, and I can confirm that it’s excellent fun. The weapons replace those found in CS2 with ones from various Halo games. Character models come directly from Halo 3, with different variants. And yes, it does include Jeff Steitzer’s legendary multiplayer announcer for multikills and objectives. To top it off, custom damage tables allow for a more Halo-like time to kill (including health regen!), and movement has been adjusted to feel much more in line with the sci-fi series. Yet, despite it all, it feels right at home in the Source 2 engine.
I present to you,

There is a small catch, though. At the moment, players only have two Halo 3 maps to play: Ghost Town and High Ground. There’s also Homefront, which looks like the Mombasa streets from Halo 3: ODST, and Sento, a custom map. But in terms of that nostalgic Halo 3 experience, then yeah, Ghost Town and High Ground are your only options right now.
According to Froddoyo, the remaining maps in the project will launch in the next two weeks, so players don’t have long to wait until the rest are available. Also shown in the trailer are The Pit, Valhalla, Narrows, Guardian, and Last Resort, so there are still some truly iconic maps to come in Project Misriah. We’re a long way from Mirage and Dust2.
You can download the CS2 Halo mod from the Steam Workshop right now. And while you can technically play with bots, you’re going to have a much better time if you grab some friends to play this new CS2 Workshop mod. If you can’t gather some pals, Froddoyo also posted a community server IP hosting the CS2 Halo mod, so you can easily play with others.

At the moment, the CS2 Halo mod isn’t the finished package. According to the mod’s Steam Workshop page, Valve has removed the ability to create custom animations to fit the weapons, so right now, you’re stuck with the default CS2 animations. Not all the weapons are ported yet, which does create some goofy scenarios where you can use some Counter-Strike weapons against Halo’s Spartans. We can look past that though, and see the obvious potential here.
It seems that Valve has taken big steps in recent months to make CS2 more moddable than ever. This is only a good thing – the moddable nature of the original Source engine has given us countless games over the years, and it’s important that this legacy continues into Counter-Strike 2.
