Players looking to play the new Player Housing feature in Patch 11.2.7 will have the chance to unlock rewards for other Blizzard games. Once players complete the new Welcome Home achievement once the patch releases, they will have access to rewards in Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, and StarCraft 2.

World of Warcraft Midnight Welcome Home Achievement Rewards Arrive in Patch 11.2.7

Patch 11.2.7 will release in early December, and with it comes the first chance for the WoW playerbase to get their hands on the new Player Housing, which is being featured outside the beta for the first time. The feature will be fully implemented, though missing obvious unlocks from Midnight.

How Player Housing Early Access Works in Patch 11.2.7

Patch 11.2.7 is players’ first chance to play with Player Housing. Patch 11.2.7 will give anyone who buys Midnight access to the feature. This is not the full release, however, and will act as a preview, and a chance for Blizzard to fix any of the issues.

How to Unlock the Welcome Home Achievement in WoW

Unlocking the Welcome Home achievement in WoW is simple. If you pre-purchased any edition of Midnight, you get access to the new Player Housing as soon as Patch 11.2.7 goes live. Once you get started, follow a short quest chain that will take you to your neighbourhood, and then, your first home.

These will be your first moments for the majority of players trying out player housing. A number of cosmetics won’t unlock until Midnight, however, Patch 11.2.7 gives players the majority of the content they need to get them started and decorate their first home.

Welcome Home Achievement Rewards

Overwatch 2 Rewards from Welcome Home

Overwatch 2 is where the most rewards are coming from. All items are themed around Xal’atath and the void, a fitting theme for the expansion.

  • Xal’atath Symmetra Legendary Skin
  • Xal’atath Symmetra Spray
  • Xal’atath Symmetra Name Card
  • Dark Heart Player Icon

The Legendary Symmetra Skin is the standout, of course, though all four items are thematic and on brand.

Hearthstone Rewards from Welcome Home

For Hearthstone, the rewards are much less exciting; however, one of the rewards is not actually tied to the Welcome Home achievement anyway, and might be the more interesting reward.

  • Hearth & Home Card Back (From Welcome Home Achievement)
  • “Welcome to the Neighbourhood” event featuring an earnable Epic event card

Not much is known about the Hearthstone event right now, though we at least know the card’s art.

StarCraft 2 Rewards from Welcome Home

StarCraft 2 is last, and it might have the weakest reward on the surface, but if you play the game a lot, the reward is fairly cool. A pair of Alliance and Horde themed console skins, as shown above. While a small reward, it is rare to see World of Warcraft rewards added to StarCraft 2; the last major ones were themed “lights” displayed under your base.

What Player Housing Brings to Midnight

As for Player Housing, it’s one of the most requested features for WoW in over a decade, so it’s important that Blizzard nail the landing. While some have been put off by the feature being announced so early, the fact that it is being used to hype pre-orders for Midnight and is available three months early tells you a lot. Blizzard is very aware that this feature could define WoW for a lot of players for decades to come.

While it’s a positive, the recent news that the Player Housing system will feature its own real-world monetisation options has put a bit of a damper on some of the hype, and certainly takes that glossy edge off the release of the feature. Nevertheless, Blizzard could have a major pillar of WoW content being released during midnight, and providing the rest of the expansion holds up, it could go down as one of the best ever.
