WoW Legion Remix does a few things to help us understand item level, but the sheer amount of loot can feel overwhelming. This is especially the case for those not using any item improvement addons. Knowing what to keep, what to scrap, and how to improve is half the battle. Let’s break down every major way to earn new items, how to optimize your time, and the fastest paths to increase your Legion Remix Item Level.

Increase Your Power in WoW Legion Remix – Quick Ways to Increase Your Item Level

First up, barely notice Item Level while leveling, but at level 80 it becomes the number that defines your grind. While Legion Remix doesn’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to how to farm higher item levels in World of Warcraft, it does add in some quality of life to streamline the process and make it more welcoming to those playing in this limited-time content.

Reaching the First Item Level Cap in Legion Remix

One thing to note with Legion Remix is that there are technically three limits that we can reach. This begins with hitting level 80, opening up the “end game” fully. Secondly, we then need to hit the first item level cap, which is technically around 584, which is the base max level for Epic gear from the Cache of Infinite Treasure.

These Caches of Infinite Treasures are the main source of loot for anyone levelling. They are both a joyous experience and the bane of your life when you’ve not opened them in an hour, and you have 30 to open at once. These items are capped based on the three rarity sources:

  • Uncommon: capped at 571 item level
  • Rare: capped at 578 item level
  • Epic: capped at 584 item level – however, this can go to item level 740 from sources we will speak about below

Pro Tip: Item level is calculated differently in Legion Remix. The item level of loot you get from drops from raids and Mythic+, etc, is based on your bag item level. Make sure you keep this optimized, make sure that if you have, for example, a Neck slot item with a better trait but lower item level, keep the higher item level one in your bag to increase your overall item level.

How to Obtain Endgame Legion Remix Loot

Once you’ve gone beyond the 584 soft cap, it’s time to look for sources of loot that can push you into the high 600s and beyond. Before we start, here is some key glossary information:

  • Motes of Broken Time – 10 of these can be turned into an upgraded piece of loot in any slot
  • Cache of Infinite Treasure – These chests are your primary reward source from raids, dungeons, and quests. You’ll get hundreds of these as you level, and they act as a key source of random loot
  • Cache of Infinite Power – The main source of Fragmented Memento of Epoch Challenges
  • Fragmented Memento of Epoch Challenges – 100 of these will give you a “significant” amount of Infinite Power and Stamina

Questing and Dungeons

Thankfully, those Cache of Infinite Treasures are still very useful because they give us 1 or 2 Motes of Broken Time each time we open them (10 of those are required to make an item). You will get these from basically everything you do, but questing is the easiest source of these. You can do any quests you like, but long questlines such as those in Suramar are a great way to do this, as they have a lot of quick-to-complete quests.

World Quests are another option here, focusing on the daily to complete 3/4 specific World Quests can be a great way to optimise this. On Heroic World Tier, you’ll get a Heroic Cache of Infinite Treasure, which has increased rewards.

The next great source of these is dungeons, something you can queue for while you quest to maximise your gains. Using Heroic Dungeons as an example, if you queue via the Group Finder, you’ll get 1 or 2 motes per boss kill, plus 2 Caches of Infinite Treasures once you complete the dungeon.

While questing is very reliable, dungeons are the best for efficiency. With such fast queue times, you can easily chain-queue Heroic Dungeon runs while questing in Suramar.

Mythic+

Mythic+ is the last way to farm item level, and also the most consistent and fastest, especially when it comes to obtaining Mote of Broken Time. The number of motes that drop is based on both the difficulty of the Mythic+ and the length of the dungeon. This means a lower key in a long dungeon, such as Archway, will net you as much as a Maw of Souls at a +20. You’ll find the Mythic+ Keystone vendor in the Infinite Bazaar at the same place you set your Heroic World Tier, as shown above.

Raids

If you’re chasing efficiency, raids might surprise you. They’re low-effort, high-return daily runs that outpace most other sources. Each boss will drop a Mote of Broken Time; you’ll get one for each boss in LFR, and four in Mythic, with normal and Heroic offering two and three, respectively. You will also get more Fragmented Memento of Epoch Challenges, one of the best sources of Infinite Power. Each raid boss also has the chance to drop loot, which will scale with your current bag item level. For example, if your bag item level is 600, you will get loot around 604 dropping from bosses.

Raids reset daily, but you’ll need to be level 80 to enter Heroic and Mythic versions of any raid.

Tip: Emerald Nightmare is a great starting point, as its winged structure via a central hub makes the time between bosses a breeze.

Other Ways to Increase Power in Legion Remix

Outside of item level, it’s worth remembering that your Infinite Power is your other key source of power in Legion Remix (you can view our full guide here). The Cache of Infinite Power is the main way we can increase this, and it’s rewarded for completing the daily Infinite Research quests. These will always have gear inside as well, making them a good source of item level. To optimise this, select Research quests that send you to raids or dungeons so you can double-dip on rewards.

Remember, while Infinite Power isn’t item level, it does amplify your overall power, so don’t sleep on this as you increase item level. Combine the above dips with your daily research runs, and you’ll be well beyond the 700 item level mark in no time.
