The Finals Season 9 Patch Notes are here, and they bring a lot of changes to the game. While the new map and new game mode are very exciting, we want to take a look at the patch notes and see what is changing to the weapons and gadgets.

The Finals Season 9 Patch Notes Biggest Changes

In the nicest way possible, Season 9 is a season of tweaks and balance for The Finals, which is good, because the game feels like it’s in a great place. There are a good deal of quality of life changes, and the aforementioned new map and 8v8 mode are great. However, the changes to weapons and gadgets, while not that interesting, will help, we hope, make for a really balanced start to 2026.

The Finals Season 9 Patch Notes Biggest Changes

When it comes to balance, there are a few changes that could have the largest impact on the meta. Here are some of the highlights:

Aim Assist

Aim snapping has been added to the following weapons:

  • .50 Akimbos
  • BFR Titan
  • CB-01 Repeater
  • Cerberus 12GA
  • KS-23
  • M26 Matter
  • Model 1887
  • R .357
  • Recurve Bow
  • SA1216
  • SR-84

The cooldown has also been increased when aim snapping kicks in, alongside a longer cooldown for sniper rifles, shotguns, revolvers, and grenade launchers. This is also impacted by range, meaning that it is no longer overpowered at long distances.

Gadget Buffs

  • Breach Charge
    • Decreased cooldown from 30s to 20s
  • Dome Shield
    • Now able to block the Winch Claw
  • Frag Grenade
    • Larger radius on both outer range and inner damage
  • Gas Grenade
    • Decreased cooldown from 30s to 24s
  • Pyro Grenade
    • Decreased cooldown from 30s to 24s
  • Thermal Bore
    • Decreased fuse time from 2.5s to 1.75s
    • Decreased cooldown from 45s to 35s
  • RPG-7
    • Damage increased by 10 (change made to increase its effectiveness against Goo)
  • Barricade
    • YouTuber Ronin noticed that the Barricade has had a “secret” buff, allowing it to be placed behind you if you drop it directly on the floor

Gadget Nerfs

  • Gateway
    • Decreased max range from 70m to 50m
  • Glitch Grenade
    • Ammo count dropped to 1 from 2
    • Cooldown reduced from 20s to 12s
  • Goo
    • Explosive damage against Goo increased from 2 to 2.25
  • Pyro Mine
    • Damage reduced from 80 to 55

Specialization Changes

The meta was fairly solid in Season 8, but the developers are looking to make a few changes in the Finals Season 9 Patch Notes. Hopefully, to bring the level of some of the weaker options up.

  • Mesh Shield
    • Health increased from 750 to 850
    • Now blocks Winch Claw
  • Winch Claw
    • Stun time reduced from 0.65 to 0.5
    • Minimum stun time reduced from 0.35 to 0.2
    • Winch Claw will break if the enemy moves outside its range during the cast

Weapon Changes

There are a lot of changes here, so we would suggest reading the The Finals Season 9 Patch Notes on specific weapons; however, we will do a quick Buff or Nerf below to make it easier.

  • 93R – Nerf
  • BFR Titan – Nerf
  • Dual Blades – Buff
  • KS-23 – Buff
  • Lewis Gun – Buff
  • M132 Minigun – Buff
  • M60 – Balanced
  • Model 1887 – Buff
  • V9S – Buff

Overall, the weapon changes are minor, with many aiming to elevate a few weapons in the pecking order rather than significantly weakening any one weapon with the nerf bat. A few changes are also targeted at casual players, such as the Minigun, to help newer players get better use out of certain weapons.

Overall, it’s a really strong patch that looks to bring the game overall in line without adding too much “new stuff” to make the game unbalanced. While the new map and mode will add issues, overall, the ranked and top-end experience should feel a lot more balanced as a result of Season 9.
