The Finals Patch 9.1 is adding a pinch of festive joy to the arena today as the game gets a sprinkling of festive flair. With the Season 9 patch now a week ago, this patch will focus on new cool fun stuff and events, rather than lots of changes, etc. Though, we do have a few of those at the end.

The Finals Patch 9.1 Brings the Festive Joy to the Arena

As the festive period rolls around, The Finals is adding some festive treats for fans to bring the joy of the Christmas period to the game. Most of these will be found in the new Gift Ripper set, adding new outfits and cosmetics to weapons and gadgets. The game will see the Calvin Twitch Drop campaign extended, alongside a Twitch Sub promotion. Outside of that, there are a few bits of balance coming to the game with a week on the books since the patch.

The Finals Christmas Update

The first major thing is a new store bundle featuring a number of cosmetics themed around Christmas, from frozen weapon skins and gingerbread skins, to a Christmas ornament skin for the healing orb.

While not part of the Christmas update, The Finals also confirmed that a new skin for Arc Raiders has been added via playing three games of The Finals. We covered the drop a few days ago, but with the issue now ironed out, it looks like they are happy to confirm you can earn it now.

The store is pretty packed with new and returning skins, helpfully marked as you can see below. The Tactical Tidings Set offers up a free set, including a grenade skin and a lovely Christmas hat. The rest of the skin sets are also pretty special, as is often the case when it comes to skins for The Finals.

The gift-wrapped weapon skins are a very cool set, though the ones that change the grenades are our favourites. Throwing a snow globe grenade never gets old, and the always-on-point earning cosmetics are a standout as always for The Finals. There are a fair few solid things in here, with most items in the range also getting a fairly large discount, some being 50% for the duration of the event, though they are only available for the next 14 days at this discount but the free set will go away after the time, so make sure to grab that at least.

Balance Pass

Weapons

  • V9S
    • Damage reduced from 40 to 38

Just the one bit of weapon balance for the patch, having seen the weapon get a small range buff in patch 9.0, the developers have seen fit to take away some of the raw damage of the weapon now. In just a week of testing, the V9S has become a key meta pick, so the damage buff is being un-buffed.

Other Changes

Not much else has changed, in terms of buffs and nerfs, at least. There have been a number of performance-related improvements with the new patch. The new Point Break mode has been well-received, and this patch will bring a few minor changes. For now, this patch is focused on the Christmas-themed changes, so we don’t suspect we see any other major changes now until after the Christmas period, where we suspect the team will go on a break.
