




Rainbow Six Siege X has had an amazing life across PC and console since its release. With free weekends, trials, and sales during peak periods bringing more players to the game, for those on PlayStation, one question often comes up. Can you play Rainbow Six Siege X without PS Plus, or is the game playable, and fun without it?
You can load up Rainbow Six Siege X without PS Plus, but only in a limited way. Offline modes work fine, such as Lone Wolf Terrorist Hunt. Situations. Custom games you host yourself, which are handy if you want to learn recoil or get used to operators. So while the game is technically playable, you will lose out on the majority of the experience.
If you wish to play online against real players, then PS Plus is required. This includes things such as Quick Match, Unranked, Ranked, and Team Deathmatch.
The game does have free weekends via PS Plus, however, so keep an eye out for these. Either the game will be free for a weekend, but require PS Plus still, or PS Plus will have a free weekend where they unlock multiplayer for anyone.
Note, unlike Steam, PlayStation does not have a good refund policy, so you can’t buy the game and play for a short time before refunding.
Before we start, it’s worth noting that Rainbow Six Siege X Elite Edition (the base paid game) is part of PlayStation Plus. So as long as you subscribe, you’ll have access to the game and the online.

It’s great that Siege has a free access mode now, which gives you a great chance to start out and then slowly unlock things as you go. If you like it, and subscribe to PS Plus, you’ll get access to the Elite Edition anyway, which might be worth subscribing to.
If you enjoy the game, it’s probably a good idea to buy it during a major sale, however, so that you always own the game and don’t need to subscribe to PS Plus to keep it.
It’s worth noting that Siege might one day get added to the “free to play” list of games on PlayStation. Right now, that list includes a number of titles, though these are often games that are either free to buy or have been in the past. Fortnite, Warzone. Rocket League, and Fall Guys make up some of the list of free-to-access multiplayer games.
