MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 2 Results

The first match’s result wasn’t a huge surprise, given ONIC’s form going into playoffs and Day 1. But the second match turned things completely on their heads. Here’s a breakdown of what happened in Day 2 of MPL ID S15 Playoffs:

During the first game of the match, ONIC’s drafter Coach Yeb let the highly contested hero, Chip, through the draft, surely with a plan in his mind.

ONIC’s strategy was to head on rush Geek Fam with constant pressure all around the map, Chip didn’t get a chance to shine. What stopped them the most was Kiboy and Lutpii disrupting the backlines. As well as SANZ and Savero free hitting with their marksman heroes. The snowball went out of control in ONIC’s way, getting the first point of the match.

The next game had most of the same composition with only both Gold Laners as well as Geek Fam ID’s exp laner Gobs changing their heroes. Gobs used X.Borg to gain the advantage early more than Lutpii’s 2nd game of Cici while we had different sets of marksmen in the Gold Lane. Regardless of the small draft change by both teams, the outcome was exactly the same as game 1 with ONIC bulldozing over Geek Fam with the same strat. ONIC got the match point early.

Game 3 was completely different.

Geek Fam ID ignored the open hero Chip and instead went for the first pick Kalea. They gave ONIC a taste of their own medicine. The entire team of Geek Fam ID stuck together, finding team fights and pickoffs. ONIC couldn’t control Geek Fam’s rush. This then puts Geek Fam ID on the board, another game still to play in the MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 2.

The last game had a heartbreaking finish for Geek Fam ID fans. Kairi’s 200 IQ play to stop them taking the base ended with Geek Fam in a disastrous situation. Geek Fam ID tried to end the game but Kairi used Retribution to quickly kill a minion, preventing the base from taking further damage. His other teammates spawned exactly as he defended their base, wiping the entire Geek Fam ID.Then rushing to the opponent’s base of their opponent, finishing the series with a heartbreaking loss. ONIC advanced to the upper bracket finals.

RRQ Hoshi vs Alter Ego: The Final Slot for Upper Bracket Finals

Alter Ego gave us such a treat for picking an unusual hero, Natan in the Gold Lane, for the first game of their match against RRQ Hoshi. As soon as their first game started, both teams exchanged blows as hard as they can with constant team fights around the map. The game favored Alter Ego a bit early on, but progressed into a stalemate. Alter Ego was the better team eventually, after picking off RRQ Hoshi’s EXP Laner, Dyrennn. RRQ Hoshi tried to fight the skirmish still but ended getting wiped out, getting a surprising first point for Alter Ego.

The next game had another appearance for DreamS’ Franco, who eliminated Bigetron Esports for this matchup. The adjustment was too much for Alter Ego to handle as they went around the entire map picking off extended players. RRQ Hoshi ran this game in textbook style of prioritizing weakening the opponent, then taking the neutrals afterwards with a man advantage.

Alter Ego tried to surprise RRQ Hoshi by knocking out some of RRQ’s carries but Sutsujin had other plans. They eventually wiped Alter Ego to tie up the series 1 to 1.

RRQ Hoshi didn’t stop their onslaught during the 3rd game. Stopping Alter Ego by banning most of Rinee’s heroes in the draft. This made RRQ Hoshi’s game much more easier. They focused on picking off heroes from their opponents. Once again gaining the man advantage. Bringing RRQ Hoshi to score the first match point of the series.

The last match of MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 2 saw Rinee still scratching his head for a jungle hero after bans. Left with Lancelot to pick, it wasn’t much help. Hijume tried a last resort diversion play alongside DreamS to try to steal the lord, which they did after picking off Sutsujin, trying to extend the game. After getting the lord, Alter Ego had a massive turnover but quickly denied that opportunity to even things out. RRQ Hoshi moves on to face ONIC.

As in our MPL ID S15 predictions, ONIC and RRQ Hoshi will be competing in the upper bracket finals in Day 3. Tomorrow’s matches will begin with the losers of today’s match to determine the team to contest for one more chance to get in MSC 2025. The day will start with Geek Fam ID against Alter Ego at 2:00 PM GMT+8, followed by the battle for the first Grand Finals and MSC 2025 with ONIC facing against RRQ Hoshi at 7:15 PM GMT+8.
