MOONTON Games and realme Launch MLBB Media Championship, M7 Media Awards

As the M7 World Championship returns to Indonesia, MOONTON Games and realme are launching the MLBB Media Championship. Using MLBB’s biggest global stage to spotlight a different kind of competition—the stories, voices, and media narratives that define Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports.

Running from January 3 to 25, the M7 World Championship marks MLBB’s return to Indonesia for the first time since M4. Often regarded as the heart of MLBB Esports. The country continues to set the benchmark for mobile esports viewership, with MPL Indonesia surpassing 100 million hours watched in each of its last five seasons. Globally, MLBB closed out 2024 as the most-watched mobile esports title. Crossing 475 million hours watched following the record-breaking M6 World Championship.

With M7 shaping up to be another landmark event, MOONTON Games has partnered with realme to introduce two initiatives. Both place media storytelling at the center of the esports ecosystem. The second edition of the MLBB Media Championship (MMC) and the debut of the M7 Awards for Best Media.

Returning under the banner #LetTheWorldSeeUs, the MLBB Media Championship gives media representatives hands-on access to the competitive and technological backbone of MLBB Esports. The initiative recognizes the role of media in bridging players, tournaments, and fans through compelling, timely storytelling.

Up to eight onsite media teams will compete during the M7 Knockout Stage, beginning with an Elimination Round before advancing to the Grand Finals. The winning team will take home five realme smartphones along with the largest share of a 270,000 Diamonds in-game prize pool.

The MMC first debuted at the M6 World Championship, where Malaysia-based outlet WTM Today emerged as champions. This year’s edition builds on that foundation, blending competition, creativity, and firsthand esports experience into one showcase event.

realme’s involvement extends beyond sponsorshi. With the realme 15 Pro named the official gaming phone of the M7 World Championship. The partnership highlights the growing connection between mobile hardware innovation and esports performance, allowing participants to experience how technology impacts high-level play. The MLBB Media Championship will be even bigger this year.

Alongside the MMC, MOONTON Games has launched the M7 Awards for Best Media, a new initiative designed to honor excellence in MLBB Esports journalism and storytelling.

The awards feature three categories: the Trendspotter Award, recognizing timely and engaging coverage around M7 and the wider MLBB community. The Best in Esports Business Journalism Award, which honors impactful reporting on partnerships, ecosystem growth, and industry developments; and the Outstanding Feature Award, celebrating in-depth and long-form storytelling throughout the M7 season.

Winners in each category will receive a certificate of recognition, 50,000 Diamonds, and a brand-new realme smartphone—tools designed to support and elevate future esports coverage. Another element of the MLBB Media Championship.

By introducing both the MLBB Media Championship and the M7 Awards for Best Media, MOONTON Games and realme reinforce the importance of storytelling in esports. Beyond the matches, highlights, and trophies, these initiatives recognize that the growth of MLBB Esports is powered just as much by the stories told as by the champions crowned on stage.
