After their elimination series against PSG Talon, we sat down with VKS Trymbi as he extends his journey at Worlds 2025.

VKS Trymbi: “I really hope this is the wake up call for us.” – Worlds 2025 Interview

Davide: First, congrats on the victory. How are you feeling after this match?

Can you also walk me through how the preparation work was prior leading to this series?

Trymbi: I think when it comes to preparation it was not easy at first because we had to. The fact that we are playing the way we were, I think, I mean of course everyone at Worlds is exhausted, right? We put so much work in order to get here so everyone is exhausted.

For me, it was quite hard to deal with because it just felt like we were just stuck in a place that we really didn’t want to be as a team. I just felt it was hard to get out of. I’m happy with the fact that we played the way we did. The preparation was good. I think we had solid two days of scrims. After our game we decided to just take it chill and not scrim on that day because we were just devastated. And we tried to do something as a team too, which helped definitely.

I think we chilled a little bit and then the next day we just went two days scrim as much as possible. We suddenly got cancelled multiple times (laughs). I’m really happy with the fact that despite this, we got some teams that actually wanted to help us and we got some good scrims and I actually feel some of the scrims we showcased we can definitely go toe to toe with some really good teams and I’m happy with that. You know, maybe we can get some more scrims out in upcoming days.

Davide: We have to talk about the next match because I mean Crisp didn’t do you much a favor.

What do you think about BLG?

Trymbi: I mean they’re LPL first seed, right? You can’t underestimate them. They have Shad0w. [The] funny story is my first competitive games were with [him]. I played like two games for an Italian team (Outplayed) because they needed a substitution for support.

Honestly, I hope they don’t put Shad0w, I hope they put the Beichuan, because Shad0w has been playing exceptionally well, so it will be fun. I don’t think he remembers. I think I played like two Lulu games because it was my first competitive games, I was playing on [a] 50 FPS laptop, I couldn’t see anything, so I was just playing substitute [to] get some money.

I remember getting annihilated in matchups, I should [have] never [gotten] annihilated. I’m happy with the fact we can play against each other. I’m so happy with how it’s been going for him. He went to LPL and won the split, absolutely crazy. And yeah, I really hope I can beat them right now because it’s not gonna be easy. I think the fact that we get an opponent like this instead of 100Thieves, let’s say. I wanted to have an opponent that is strong because if we lose to them, sure, you know, well played to them. But if we win, that actually showcases we can fight back.

Davide: I also wanted to talk about a little bit about your performance today because we saw some great plays. I think the biggest impression from my side was how you guys were a lot more proactive as a team. We also saw drafts were much clearer like getting the Poppy in Game 3: I feel like you’ve realized that this champion is quite strong.

Is that what you guys have been working on specifically?

Trymbi: Yeah, it’s kind of funny. I don’t know if Boal even talked about it, but he just first timed it, because he was really confident today coming into this matchup and he also watched BB playing Poppy. I was like ‘he has to show a little bit like how to play it too’. I don’t think he killed [Azhi] in a 1v1 like BB did against BLG, but I hope they will also be scared a little bit of that matchup.

Coming into today, I think we had really good draft. We got everything we kind of wanted and we were comfortable with what we got. Even though it was not something we practiced because we didn’t have much time to practice everything. But yeah, we just felt like this was ours, this is what we wanted to play. And as you said, I think we were much more proactive. We would sync up together, [making] sure we don’t skip waves. We actually tried to play properly without overgrouping and it felt really solid at least first game 1 and game 3. Game 2 was a bit shaky but it’s because of how we play the mid game.

Davide: Got it. As an EU player, I also wanted to talk about G2-FLY.

What do you think?

Trymbi: I did say before [the start of] Worlds, FlyQuest is the best western team. Do I keep this word? (thinks)

I think I can because I do think Inspired is probably the best jungler we’ve had. I really respect him. He’s been out there for like top positions in the world. But honestly, you know, G2 Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov, like BB, like SkewMond, all these players, they’re making their name right now and some you can’t underestimate.

Inspired and I would always joke about the fact that even when we thought we can win G2 like we did in 2021, they have Caps. You can’t underestimate them. Caps can just wake up and decide to win it and there’s not much you can do. Sometimes you can, but sometimes you just cannot, so I’m not sure.

Davide: I mean, it’s called EU Faker for a reason, I guess.

Trymbi: I actually think I really like the fact that I would never compare Caps to anyone. He’s just Caps and that’s it. It’s so crazy that he’s so, so good.

What do you think about solo queue in China? Because the general impression has been that it’s being very aggressive. Do you agree with that statement?

Trymbi: Nothing compares to Brazilian server. I won’t talk… This is a completely different talk for a different interview.

I didn’t play that many games because we came very late, but I think it’s quite aggressive. The issue is I hear that ADCs in LPL and solo queue are so aggressive. They just fight all the time. Mine, for some reason, don’t fight the most.

They get really angry at me when I don’t enable them. Even though, [it] just feels like they don’t enable me much. But my experience has been up and down. I met some players Vladimir or Zoe OTPs… Wow. These guys are crazy good.

But then I meet some players that I feel like they just don’t play. They have like a song put on max volume. They just play their lane [and] don’t care. But when they start pinging, I feel like [it’s] one good thing. I think about the solo queue. If you ping, they will listen. It’s crazy. Actually, they don’t ping much, but when they do, you know, it’s important. And I like to ping, so they actually follow a lot of what I do, which is nice.

Davide: Oh, that’s great. That’s very opposite to the EUW solo queue experience.

Trymbi: No, bro, when people get so mad, like, I just want to play the game and they just don’t use pings at all. They just don’t use it. And if you don’t use at least follow the ping. I think pings [are] such an important communication.

Davide: We’re running off the interview.

Do you have any message for the EU fans or the Brazilian fans watching?

Trymbi: I mean, for the Brazilian fans, it’s a bittersweet time, right? Because even though we won, you still don’t know how we’re going to do in the next games. I really hope this is the wake up call for us and now we can play way better.

I tried to check as little Twitter as possible because there was a lot of shit going on. And one thing I want to say to [the] community is that you guys need to have at least a little bit of faith because I saw so much shit going on us. I swear, if paiN was here and we had the same groups, they would have been out by now.

So try to give us a little bit of faith and try to support us, no matter how shit it looks. And I should get a lot of flame because, for instance, the game against FlyQuest, I was like a bit out of it at some point just because nothing was going our way. I’m thankful how we played today. I’m happy with the support that I get but have a little bit more faith in us, even though it just looks like shit. I hope we can do way better and versus BLG, some stars have to align, definitely, but I genuinely think there’s a chance we can win.
