It’s been a time and half for League of Legends roster changers over the last few days. It’s not exactly surprising that T1 are the main focus for a lot of people, hot off the heels of their Worlds 2024 win, they roster is having some major changes. The latest on that list is Zeus, who has been with the roster for almost exactly 4 years to the day.

T1 Announces Zeus Departure After Worlds Win

In their post on X, T1 confirmed that the reason for the departure was simply that the contract has come to an end. There was no information about where Zeus will be heading next, whether taking a break or diving right back into competitive play but I can imagine orgs that haven’t locked their 2025 rosters would be biting off his hand to get him to join.

Zeus legacy at T1

I feel like every time I hear people talking about T1, it’s all about Faker. While it’s absolutely justifiable for Faker to be involved in pretty much every conversation, it can be Zeus is overlooked.

Realistically, he may be the GOAT but Faker didn’t single-handedly make sure T1 placed in the top 3 at every MSI and Worlds event since 2022.

Dominance on this level in any esport isn’t common and a roster that has been together for this long and had this much success is something special.

Fan reactions aren’t….good

The primary reaction from most League of Legends and T1 fans seems to be confusion and upset. After already losing Rekkles to Los Ratones, I can’t exactly say I saw this coming.

No one wanted to see a T1 and Zeus break up and without an official comment from the man himself, it’s difficult to know the sentiment behind Zeus’ departure. While it seems everything is calm between the org and the player, some more explanation would be more than welcome.

Welcome Doran

We haven’t exactly been kept in suspense about who will be replacing Zeus. Doran, who has previously played for the likes of Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G Esports will be joining the T1 roster. He’s made quite a name for himself at HLE after winning multiple LCK events but hasn’t made quite the same impact on the international stage.

It could well be that joining T1 will be what pushes Doran from a 3rd – 8th place finish at international events over the last few years up to first place. Hopes are still high for T1 to maintain their position as the best League of Legends team in the world.
