NAVI have locked playoffs going into Week 4 of the LEC Versus. Following their series against Los Ratones, we talked to mid laner Poby about his goal as we put his English to the test.

Davide: That was quite a dominating win against Los Ratones.

What was the preparation and approach coming into the series?

Poby: We watched Los Ratones’ games and I think, especially mundo or Anivia, they doing really well [with them] and we tried to not give them good Anivia and Mundo angles… trying to target them.

How was it to play against Nemesis?

Poby: I play against Nemesis [for the] first time. I watched his match from yesterday (against G2), his Anivia is really amazing that’s why, we banned it today. I think he’s really good, [has] lots of experience and his macro and sidelane play is [also] great.

With NAVI locked for playoffs, have you guys started working towards Bo3 and Bo5s?

Poby: For me, I just focus big plan, I don’t mind… We always try to focus next match but in scrims, I want to try many champion for bo3 and Bo5s, so yeah, I focus for the future.

How is the team environment within NAVI? What do you like about your teammates?

Poby: I think our team is really amazing… I don’t know how to [explain]… It’s smart and our feedback is really clean and after officials, we always get better and improve. [That] makes me happy.

Even though NAVI is looking strong, what are the things you think the team needs to improve more?

Poby: I think communication and [being] on the same page, especially mid-jungle-support. We should improve that.

Is there any player who really stood out to you so far?

Poby: I want to say Rhilech. I’m pretty sure Rhilech is [the] best jungler in the LEC. He has really good opinions and he has ego. I think Ego is really good for junglers… I think he’s smart and his mechanics and mental are great.

Why do you think Ego is important for junglers?

Poby: Because maybe in solo lane, many times [you need to ask for help], but I think jungle is first… How can I say it? First order. I think jungle is just trust yourself… playing your game is important for junglers.

Do you have any personal goals this year?

Poby: This year, I want to make Worlds with NAVI. I think I’m really grateful for this team because they give me a really good chance and they always care [about] me. I really [want to] thank them and I want to make NAVI happy.

If you were to go to Worlds, which teams would you like to face?

Poby: I always say T1. (laughs)

Have you been following T1 recently? What do you think of them?

Poby: Yeah, I’m always watching LCK and trying to learn. They’re just amazing. Their teamfight or macro is really good… We always watch them and try to improve us.

How is your day in your life looking right now?

Poby: I think nothing special… [In the] morning, I have one hour English class and play solo queue and scrims… I always duo queue with Rhilech, it’s really funny [but] nothing special.

You’re facing G2 and MKOI in the last week. What do you think of these two teams right now?

Poby: I don’t mind enemy team, [I] just focus [on] our game and try to improve.

You’ve been praised for your performance so far. Are you enjoying the new season meta?

Poby: Yeah, I like this meta because I think [in] the current meta, mid and bot lane [are] important… I think all five [are] important but mid-bot is more important. I think our bot lane [is] doing pretty well and when Maynter (top laner) goes side lane, [his] communication is really smart and helps me many times… Thank you Maynter.

Would you say you’re the best mid laner in the LEC right now?

Poby: Yeah, I agree. I’m best (laughs).

Who would be number two?

Poby: I feel like kyeahoo is [doing] pretty well… he’s from Korea this year. Kyeahoo and jojopyun… I like jojo.

What would you like to say to the fans?

Poby: Thank you always for cheering us and we will keep going.
