After the rough match against Team Vitality, G2 are 5-4 in the standings of the LEC Versus. With two matches to go, G2 will need to step it up if they wish to fight for the title. Listen to G2’s ADC Hans Sama as he explains why G2 is struggling despite having the same roster as 2025.

Davide: What are your thoughts after the series against Team Vitality?

You guys started out great but then had a few moments. What happened?

Hans Sama: Yeah, the early game was good… maybe for bot lane [we] didn’t really get into put into account that Vi would gank after three camps. Even though it’s very risky for her game because she can lose a lot from it, there’s that.

In the end, it turned out okay. We got double crab and pressure from it but ended up dying on both so that’s not that good for me.

I think working on some mid game for us when we were ahead is what we have to focus on because the game should be very easy to progress from that point. I think we did some few macro mistake. I would [need to] look into it because there just needs to be alignment and everyone understanding what’s the correct play.

We know that Vitality took out two very good teams, so they are good. That’s why they came back. I felt like their form was not that bad so it was nice to play a very long game on stage. It’s been a while that the game hasn’t been like that playing a game on stage like this, so it was good practice.

Davide: G2 hasn’t shown the dominance that was expected.

What are the main aspects of the gameplay you are struggling with?

Hans Sama: I think there just need to be better guidelines to what we have to play for and covering their play; during the game, problem solving altogether. I think during the game we were taking a lot of resets that was not controllable.

We were just pressuring and then at some point we just reset and it felt like we’re not in control of the pace of the game even though we’re ahead, so that felt weird to me. I will personally like review it to find out what’s the best way to keep the tempo the pressure all over the mid game so we can win easily.

We are rusty in the mid game department. Sometimes, we are moving away from the things that are very important for the games, and not playing around basics. The game is not that complicated if we all understand the basics of the game when you play as a team. Not having great performances for the other matches made us more forget how to play the macro properly.

Davide: I’m aware we can’t go into details about scrims but how have scrims been so far?

Is G2 having issues transitioning scrims performance on stage?

Hans Sama: I was thinking we would do a little bit better in scrims but not that much of a difference. Definitely [on] stage when we started playing the Bo1s, [it] can feel a bit scary sometimes. It’s always been slowly getting into it as a team.

We are aiming to have a good form moving towards the next week and the playoffs… That’s going to be the most important. I think we are gonna get there [with] 200% motivation and effort for sure. We’re gonna get better soon.

You’re facing NAVI and Fnatic next. What do you expect from the last two series?

Hans Sama: Well, Fnatic is going to be interesting to play against. They have a basically new team compared to last year. We just have to work on what we should work on. There’s a lot of things to learn from the stage games that we played this week and get some alignment on how we should prep the next week as well.

It’s gonna be fun to play against Fnatic. I know they are usually aggressive and NAVI has been playing pretty good and we are gonna gonna play against SamD. I didn’t play against him on stage yet so that’s gonna be fun as well.

Davide: You’ve been playing in the LEC for nearly a decade.

What’s the biggest lesson in your career that you still hold onto tightly?

Hans Sama: Throughout my career, I learned that whatever I do during the day will affect everything practice related. So it’s important that I understood that… moving towards Rogue, for sure.

Taking every day seriously is something very important for me and putting the work with no effort, I’m not able to perform right if I don’t put the effort, so something that I learned throughout the years. Also, putting a smart way of effort… if I’m just there spamming solo queue and that’s the only [I do], that’s probably not good.

I spend my time researching what could improve me and the team. I have a few focus for next week. I hope to perform better because for sure I’ve been starting a bit poorly but I don’t have much worries. I think I will definitely do well soon enough.

Is there anyone that stood out to you at this start of the season?

Hans Sama: Not really, [though] NAVI as a team [did] definitely better than before. I think they can beat anyone in the league if they are showing on a good form so it’s the only surprise.

I guess also Los Ratones… was really surprising as well. That was probably [the] most surprising, to be honest… we lost to them as well.

Anything to add to round off the interview?

Hans Sama: Not much, just thanks for the support. We’re going to improve towards playoff, that’s for sure. [And] just going to keep the work.
