We haven’t even got Worlds 2024 done and dusted yet but RIOT is already looking ahead to Worlds 2025. It’s been a strong couple of days for announcement coming out of RIOT Games HQ about the next year in League of Legends. After confirming the brand new LTA region, which combines North American, Latin America and Brazil, RIOT are back for more with the location reveals for MSI and Worlds 2025.

MSI and Worlds 2025 Locations Announced

MSI 2025 in Canada

In a post made on X, RIOT have announced that the next rendition of the Mid Season Invitational will take place in Canada. While we don’t have a city just yet, this is really exciting news for Canadian fans who haven’t seen an international tournament round their neck of the woods in some years and have never hosted MSI before.

It seems RIOT are going to continue the general structure of the year by holding MSI at the end of Split 2. There, the top 10 teams from 5 regions will make their way to Canada to compete is one of the most prestigious events in esports.

Worlds 2025 in Chengdu

It was actually revealed in a bit of a footnote that Worlds 2025 would be held in China just a few days ago. Now, fresh of the heels of MSI 2024, Chengdu will also play host to Worlds next year.

There has been something of a meteoric rise for Chinese esports fans over the last year or so. From Counter-Strike’s IEM Chengdu earlier this year to the Perfect World Shanghai Major at the end of November to MSI and now Worlds, it’s interesting to see how many games and tournament organizers are putting their eggs in the China basket.

First Stand Tournament

I’ve always found it a little surprising that League of Legends had so few events on the international stage. They are well and truly due an upgrade and that’s exactly what we’re going to get.

The first ever First Stand Tournament will take place at the end of Split 1 in March in Seoul, South Korea. The timing makes sense, now fans will have an international event at the end of each split, much like the format of other esports.

Details are still fairly thin on the ground. We have dates and a location but that’s about it. I’m sure I’m not the only one welcoming more information as quickly as it’ll come.

But there’s more to come from this year’s season before we can even think about moving onto next year. Worlds grand final anyone?
