Los Ratones, the team led by co-streamer and esports personality Marc “Caedrel” Lamont, will have the chance to crown themselves NLC champions for the third time this year at League Disrupt in Sweden. Can the team add one more milestone to their “golden road” in the tier-two scene ahead of EMEA Masters Summer?
The NLC Summer Finals will be taking place at the Hovet Arena in Stockholm, with one of the greatest live events ever showcased for the European tier-two scene. With over 5,000 fans expected to join, Leagues Disrupt will be combining competitive play with entertainment, fan engagement, and creators. Tickets are currently still on sale.
The festival is set to have live music, meet & greets with top Swedish esports personalities, such as former pro player Erik “Treatz” Wessén, giveaways, an expo zone, and even an afterparty. But before that, it will be a showdown between Los Ratones and Verdant, who fought their way through the lower bracket to the NLC Final, taking down contenders such as NORD Esports and Rich Gang Esports.
Just like their opponents, Verdant has some former LEC players in the roster, including top laner Enzo ‘SLT’ Gonzalez, mid laner Chres ‘Sencux’ Laursen, and support Tore ‘Tore’ Hoel Eilertsen. This will be the organization’s first final since Spring 2023.
Doors at Leagues Disrupt will open at 14:30 CET before the final match starts at 17:00 CET. During the half-time show, there will be a live music performance from K-pop girl group PRIMROSE, who have built a strong fan base in the country and the rest of Northern Europe. Debuting in 2023 and consisting of four members (Ruby, Nahyun, Rainie, and Hayun), the group recently filmed in Finland for one of their latest songs, ‘Cinema‘.
Starting back in 2018 with K/DA, LoL Esports and K-pop have been coming closer and closer. Earlier last week, League of Legends GOAT Faker had appeared in one of Stray Kids’ music videos.
With one of the most stacked rosters in the tier-two scene, including former LEC pros such as Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, Juš “Crownie” Marušič, and Tim “Nemesis“ Lipovšek, Los Ratones have had a great season so far, having won the previous two NLC splits and winning EMEA Masters in both Winter and Spring. With their qualification already set for EMEA Summer, there is a chance for LR to win all competitions in the tier-two scene.
That being said, there is a chance that LR might decide to skip out on the last big tournament of the year due to conflicting schedules with LoL Worlds, with the EMEA Masters Summer final taking place at the Paris Games Week during the Worlds semifinals. Currently, Caedrel hasn’t announced the final decision, but Los Ratones’ absence might have major consequences in driving engagement in the season-end competition.
