With the League of Legends Patch 25.11 hitting the live servers, it’s time to turn our eyes to the next update, Patch 25.12.
Patch 25.11 has been officially released on May 28. Some of the highlights from the current update include Garen’s tweaks as well as several champion nerfs that should expect shifts among the meta champion pool.
With that in mind, Patch 25.12 is expected to be a transitional update as the second international tournament of the competitive season, the Mid-Season Invitational, will be coming up later next month. Throughout the past few years, Riot devs have been making substantial changes to the meta ahead of big tournaments to make the game refreshing and more dynamic.
According to game designer Spideraxe, there are planned changes for Rammus. The champion is receiving a minor rework, which should further enhance his playability in games. From being a highly specific counter pick to AD-based champions, Rammus is now getting extra magic resistances to his kit that should make him viable against AP champions as well. His jungle clear should also improve, given the extra damage applied to monsters.
Game designer Riot Phroxzon released the full preview for the patch on June 4, with many champions on the list. A lot of changes seemed to be aimed at professional play, as popular champions in high elo like Nidalee, Lee Sin, Aphelios, Azir, Ahri, and Aatrox are all on the tweaks.
Among the highlighted changes, I’m mainly looking at the mid lane meta. Twisted Fate and LeBlanc are getting yet another series of buffs, especially the former, who is getting 20 seconds less on his ultimate. Paired with the nerfs to Azir and Ahri, we might witness a shift in the mid lane champion pool going forward.
In the jungle, I’m looking at Vi and Lee Sin. The girl from Arcane is getting an overall nerf while Lee Sin’s E buff will slightly push him forward, although I doubt he will become a tier-one jungler. For the top lane, Jax is getting a small buff while both Gwen and Rumble are getting hit: they will likely drop in priority.
Among the ADCs, the nerf to Kalista and Varus seems quite substantial, while Zeri is getting big buffs. I was hoping for some interesting Aphelios buffs, but only a few stat changes won’t likely push him into relevance. Senna is expected to stay as a valid option in the bottom lane despite the nerf.
Additionally, Riot Games will be releasing the Uzi skins to celebrate his induction into the Hall of Legends, which will feature three exclusive collections plus a special battle pass.
