For the first time, the League Awards has just opened their nominations including 19 categories of outstanding performance in the world of League of Legends. Run by LoL talent Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, and Marc “Caedral” Lamont, the newly minted event is due to be streamed live on Caedral’s Twitch channel on 5th December.
Until then, fans have the chance to vote for their favorite players, talent, creators and more. This is a great step forward for League of Legends production value and isn’t something we see replicated in many other places in esports. Fans rarely get their say when it comes to esports – awards are only handed out to those who win tournaments but sometimes there’s more recognition to give and it seems that’s what the League Awards hopes to achieve.
Now that the year in League of Legends is over and the first act of Arcane season 2 has finally been released, I thought we’d be waiting until January for more hyped League events but now there’s something to really look forward to.
There are a tonne of categories of nominations you can vote in at the League Awards and that means a lot of recognition. Here is every category you can vote in:
| Player of the Year | LCS Player of the Year |
| LEC Player of the Year | LPL Player of the Year |
| LCK Player of the Year | Minor Region Star of the Year |
| Team of the Year | Rookie of the Year |
| Broadcast Talent of the Year | Esports Creator of the Year |
| Community Creator of the Year | Content Piece of the Year |
| Best RIOT Release of the Year | Play of the Year |
| Creator Event of the Year | Best Caster Call of the Year |
| Escape of the Year | Steal of the Year |
| Moment of the Year |
Placing your votes in exceedingly easy. You’ll firstly need to log into the League Awards site using your Google or Twitch account.
From there, it’s literally a case of typing your votes into each box. You don’t have to vote in every category if you don’t want to or don’t have an answer for. Each box also has some more description to give you an idea of what kind of nomination they’re looking for, which is more helpful than you’d think.
It’s worth noting that there’s no “submit” button to send your nomination in. If you click off the text box, it’ll get a tick on the right hand side to show your response has been recorded.
And stay up to date on all the latest trends in esports
