While the Mid-Season Invitational is ongoing in Canada, the LCK has officially unveiled the schedule for the second part of the LCK Season, starting with LCK Rounds 3-5.
The Korean league announced that the action will officially resume on Wednesday, July 23. The schedule will follow the usual agenda with two Bo3 series taking place every day. On the opening day, the LCK schedule of Rounds 3-5 will see Dplus KIA take on OKSavingsBank BRION and the big match between Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports.
With MSI and the Esports World Cup taking place this month, it will be a busy schedule for the top LCK teams, with extremely short turnovers.
According to the new format, LCK Rounds 3-5 will see teams split into two groups based on the results from Rounds 1-2. The top five — Gen.G, HLE, T1, Nongshim RedForce, and KT Rolster — will be placed in the Legend Group, while the remaining five —Dplus KIA, BNK FEARX, BRION, DRX, and DN Freecs—will be in the Rise Group, each competing in a triple round-robin within each group. It’s worth noting that teams will have their records carry over.
At the end of the triple round robin phase, which ends on August 31, the top four teams from the Legend Group will go straight to the Season playoffs. The fifth-placed team, instead, will have to compete with the top three from the other group to determine the last two playoff teams.
The Play-In will be a best-of-five double-elimination bracket, with two teams advancing to the Playoffs. With three Worlds slots on the line (and potentially a fourth one if the LCK were to place in the top two regions at MSI), the Season playoffs are set to be explosive. The play-in stage will be between September 3 and 7, while the playoffs will take place on September 10-28.
