It was meant to be. After an incredibly successful year with CFO, Taiwanese mid–jungle duo HongQ and Junjia are set to join JD Gaming, as officially announced by the organization this Monday.

HongQ and Junjia join JDG for 2026

The 18-year-old midlaner made a huge impression this season, notably earning Rookie of the Year at the League Awards. Backed by an excellent Junjia, the duo led CFO to three international events—the only team in the world to achieve that feat—and even reached the Worlds playoffs. HongQ will replace Scout, who had a disappointing year with JDG and is already confirmed to be returning to his home region to join NS RedForce in 2026. Junjia will take over Xun’s spot, despite the latter being far more praised for his performances this season; Xun is heading back to more familiar surroundings at BLG, the team with which he reached the Worlds final last year.

Tabe Takes the Helm of JDG’s New Generation

For HongQ, this will be his first experience in the Chinese league, while Junjia already knows the LPL environment well. He made his debut in 2020 with EDG before becoming Jiejie’s substitute from Summer 2020 until the end of 2022. He was even part of the roster as a sub when EDG won Worlds in 2021. He’ll need to readapt quickly to the second-strongest league in the world if he wants to live up to the high expectations that inevitably come with joining an ambitious team like JDG. He will also play a key role in helping his young teammate acclimate—especially given the level of expectation surrounding HongQ after his explosive first year in Tier 1.

The Taiwanese duo couldn’t ask for better guidance in this new chapter. JDG’s management has handed the reins to Tabe, the former coach of Anyone’s Legend, who massively outperformed expectations last season—bringing AL closer than any other LPL team to toppling Korea at MSI, EWC, and Worlds in 2025. He is also bringing his assistant Xiaobai with him for this new journey. There’s no doubt that while this young and inexperienced roster will need time, this coaching duo is the perfect fit to accelerate its development.

JD Gaming also announced the rest of its roster, extending Xiaoxu and signing Vampire as support, who made a strong impression with Team WE, particularly at the end of the 2025 season. Vampire will replace Zhuo in 2026. The only role yet to be officially revealed is the AD carry position—but according to rumors, the heavily sought-after GALA is the favorite for the spot.
