It’s the second day for us at the Worlds Media Days. With Gen.G looking like the top contender for Worlds, we sat down with their top laner Kiin to talk about the team, his view on the meta, and who will win between T1 and IG.

Gen.G Kiin: “IG winning would be a fresh and exciting outcome.”

First of all, how are you doing? How has the preparation been so far?

Kiin: Today seems like a normal day, not much different from usual. It hasn’t been that long since we’ve started practicing, but I’ve been watching how others are practicing, and I’ve been practicing alongside them, so I feel like we’re starting to get the hang of it.

Davide: Gen.G as the clear favorites going into Worlds considering your performance throughout the season.

In what areas do you think your team has been consistently better than the others? What’s one thing you’re not particularly satisfied with?

Kiin: Our strengths compared to other teams… I think one of them is our diverse champion pool in Fearless draft. Another one is where our focus increases as we go into the latter half of the series, and in times of crisis we’re quick to make decisions. Those are some of our strengths. If we were to pick something we lack, it would be where we lose a lot during the first game of best-of series. Also, I feel like our drafts are not the best, so we have to work on that as well.

Davide: We’ve had a two patch break where there were a few important changes, including the nerfs to bruiser junglers, several mid lane champions getting adjusted, and even some top laners getting buffed. BLG Bin also said in an interview that Riot buffed champions like Camille and Jax and that every top laner should play those champions.

Without disclosing anything major, what can we expect from the meta at this year’s Worlds?

Kiin: For Jax and Camille… Well, in the case of Jax, there were buffs to his ultimate and armor. In the case of Camille, although her armor growth was reduced, there was a buff to her W cooldown. Now, I think the champions we have regularly been seeing were in a healthy state, so that wouldn’t be impacted much. I don’t think we’ll see them being picked aggressively from the first game, but will show up when the series progresses further.

Davide: You’ve previously said Europe’s buildings were the prettiest.

Which country in EU did you enjoy the most? Is there any place you haven’t been to that you would like to see?

Kiin: Actually, I’ve been to many countries while competing internationally, but I haven’t been able to travel around that much because of the competition schedule. Because of that, I have a lot of regrets, so I always want to travel around wherever I go. Unfortunately, it’s the same situation this time around and I don’t have that much time to spend.

So, for now, the country that I have good memories of is actually China. I won my first MSI last year, so I have some nice memories… In Europe, the scenery was really pretty and the country was nice, but unfortunately, we had a disappointing result at Worlds last year. I want to make better memories the next time I compete in Europe, so for now, I think the time I competed in China is my positive memory.

Davide: T1 is playing against IG tomorrow.

Can you give me a prediction on who will join the Swiss stage?

Kiin: Personally, I think if IG wins, it will be 3-2, and if T1 wins, it will be 3-1. A fresh and fun outcome would be IG winning and advancing, but honestly, I think T1 is the favorite, so I’ll just be watching and hoping for an interesting match!

One last to all the fans? In english if possible!

Kiin: Thank you!
