With the League of Legends 25.19 Patch Notes being released to the live servers, it’s time to turn our eyes to the next update, LoL Patch 25.20, the official patch used for Worlds 2025.
Patch 25.19 was filled with many changes that are going to set the base for the pro play meta at Worlds, including champions like Jax, LeBlanc, Ahri, and Diana getting some love with some good buffs. Riot has been trying to bring shifts to the jungle meta by bringing more AP junglers.
The trend continues with the continuous nerf of AD junglers. For this patch, Riot Phroxzon has confirmed nerfs coming to Warwick, Wukong, Volibear, and Briar. In particular, Wukong is the pro-play focused nerf, which Riot is hitting preemptively to put him on a similar level of power as other junglers.
The only jungle buff is to Pantheon, who has probably been hit a bit too hard over the past few months: “Pantheon was overnerfed last patch and it wasn’t our intention to remove him completely from the meta, so we’re looking to claw some of that back,” said the game designer.
While the dev team has stated they don’t want to change things drastically prior to the start of the biggest tournament of the year, they are planning out adjustments to two fan favorite pro picks: Azir and Camille. The top layer is getting a power neutral bump to increase viable options for 1v9 AD fighters while the DPS mage is getting a shift to remove power away in pro and make him perform better in regular play. Number changes will be added as soon as the information has been confirmed.

Based on the number changes, the big highlights are the nerfs to Azir and Wukong, which are likely to be also relevant for Worlds. The number changes to the mid lane mage are set to make him a tad weaker in the mid-game but scale equally well later on. Wukong, on the other hand, is getting some nerfs that will lower his overall damage output. It won’t make him obsolete but his priority might not be as high.
For solo queue, the main changes worth looking into are Fizz, Graves, and Volibear. The latter is receiving another small series of nerfs and it might force players to look for new itemizations over the traditional AP bruiser build path. Fizz has its power added to his W, rewarding players for being able to apply it consistently on opponents. Graves’ Q change is interesting and it should make him stronger early on, which is welcomed for someone who has struggled to be in the jungle for an entire season. The other changes are minor, so it shouldn’t really shift the dynamics in their respective roles.
According to the official patch schedule, the League of Legends Patch 25.20 will go live on October 8, 2025.
