The biggest event in Fortnite esports is returning for Chapter 6 Season 2, the FNCS 2025 Major 2. This is the climatic event of this season, but it’ll also be running for pretty much the entire span of it. With lower ranking teams competing every week to try and make it to top of the divisions and get a place in the finals.

The whole event builds up to a weekend-long major. Where the 33 best Fortnite trios in each region compete in a single lobby. It’s one of the toughest fights in competitive Fortnite. The last major saw less than 20 points decide the winner in the biggest region. How will the FNCS 2025 Major 2 work though?

FNCS 2025 Major 2 Format

The FNCS has an expanded format this time. Just like in the FNCS Major 1, we’re again getting Divisional Cups. The top-ranking players from these weekly events move on to the Group Stage of the qualifier, along with those who competed in the Last Chance Qualifier. Followed by the Grand Finals for each region.

Divisional Cups

The first stage of the FNCS 2025 Major 2 is the Divisional Cups. These are events where players compete each week. The player base is divided up into divisions, at the end of each week the lowest ranking players get relegated and the highest ranking get promoted.

The divisions are 600 players in total, so there isn’t much room to manoeuvre. Each Divisional Cup will give players the chance to move up, with the top division moving onto the next stage.

Play In

The start of the FNCS 2025 Major 2 proper is the play-in. Here, trios compete from Division 1. There’s a two-day event with the top-ranking players at the end moving on to make the proper Major.

The 99 highest ranking in the EU and NAC Fortnite servers go forward, and the top 66 in all other regions.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the FNCS Major runs with three groups for EU and NAC. Along with two elsewhere. Players compete over the weekend, with Victory Royales moving them on to the Finals. At the end of the event, the consistent players move forward too. That’s the top 5 in EU/NAC or 10 elsewhere. Being more consistent is usually rewarding when trying to play Fortnite better, so it’s good that it’s not just Victory Royales that count for the win.

These top players then move forward. Although, they’re joined by players who make the cut in one more stage first.

Last Chance Qualifier

The Last Qualifier provides one final chance for players to make it to the FNCS 2025 Major 2. All players from Divisions 1, 2, and 3 can head in here. The Victory Royale winners move forward. It’s risky, but teams qualifying this way could still clinch their spot.

FNCS 2025 Major 2 Grand Finals

After all that, we finally make it to the FNCS 2025 Major 2 Grand Finals. For most fans, this is where they start paying attention. The last section.

This is a one-lobby event for each region. The top 33 Fortnite trios compete in a single lobby, across three days. Each game, players earn points for placement and eliminations. By the end, the team on top takes home the crown. They’re the new FNCS and overall Fortnite esports champions for the season. Along with getting a major prize pool share and the new Axe of Champions.

The FNCS 2025 Major 2 is open to all players at first! We don’t know who will be taking part in the later stages until the earlier ones have concluded. There’s no automatic in for those at the top of the Fortnite esports community. Although, we can probably expect some players to secure their spot no matter what happens.
