All Fortnite Simpsons Tournaments Coming this Season

A new Fortnite season has begun, with a particularly specific meta. While this is a mini season, we are expecting some Fortnite Simpsons tournaments still! A small handful are being held to help pros stay in tournament shape during the off-season.

The new mini season is focused on the Simpsons, so there’s a lot going on in the shop and a unique map. For Fortnite esports though, it’s a lighter period. It was to be expected, but the meta for the season does seem surprisingly restrained to say it’s a period without tournaments. We’ve essentially got a handful of specific items available, and very little room for wacky loadouts.

These tournaments won’t be on the level of the FNCS, but it’s a fun way to stay in touch with competitive. It’s using a format we don’t see too often anymore too. This is how they’ll work:

Fortnite Simpsons Tournaments

The Fortnite mini seasons are in their third year, but tournaments are never really the focus for these. There won’t be a big event, but we are getting four different Cash Cups. One for each week of the season. These will be returning to a bit of a different Fortnite tournament format too.

Alongside the main multi-platform tournaments, there are two other events which are coming as a trial.

Fortnite Victory Cups Return

For the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments, we’re getting a few different Fortnite Victory Cups. These are like the normal Cash Cups, but they’re ran in two sessions. The first is a qualifier. In the second, the best Fortnite players compete. Only the winners of games get cash in round 2. There are no other prizes.

These tournaments are going to be held weekly. There’s a batch coming for Squads first. These will be four-player events, a lesser seen team size for esports. These are the dates for the Fortnite Simpsons Squads Victory Cash Cups:

• November 9th
• November 16th
• Novemebr 23rd
• November 30th

However, there will also be a Duos Victory Cash Cup! These Fortnite Simpsons tournaments will have the same format, so only Victory Royales get cash. These are the dates:

• November 8th
• November 15th
• November 22nd
• November 29th

Touch Trail Cups

There’s a new format coming or the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments, or at least a trial. This will be a test event for Fortnite Mobile. A competition that’s limited to players using touch controls only.

Since the FNCS Global Championship, we’re been awaiting news for this new Mobile tournament series Epic is hosting. In the past, mobile only events had some clear problems. Players used high powered iPad pros to run the game at a high FPS and used traditional input methods. Meaning those actually using mobile devices and not PC-level hardware as mobile were out of luck. Making it touch only should level the playing field a bit more.

Performance Evaluations

Finally, we’ve got a returning format for the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments. The Performance evals. These are closed tournaments that are only really here to help Epic. It’s a chance for them to see how the meta is performing in the current season for Fortnite esports players. Then make adjustments ahead of actual tournaments. These are fun to follow along with, but they’re more of a testing ground than anything else.

The New Surge

One factor in the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments that might make them more worthy of watching is the new surge. The meta for storm surge trading has been a been a menace. It has made tournaments over the last year a bit weird, and Epic is finally doing something about it. But they’ve started with testing an alternative system, that has some other problems.

The new form of Surge now takes into account when you take damage as well as deal it. This deducts damage taken from your storm surge total. This has meant players are just as incentivized to avoid fights, but it has at least stopped the non-stop trading. This system might remain in place for the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments, but it’s just a trial right now. We could see them test out other forms of storm surge befosre the FNCS returns.

When Does the FNCS Return?

Cash Cups are fine, but they’re not spectacles on the level of the FNCS. When are we expecting that tournament series to return? Right now, it’s looking like Chapter 7’s launch. We’ve just got the Fortnite Simpsons tournaments till then.

This is when we’ll find out the dates when the FNCS is coming back. Last year, we even saw the first tournaments take place in December. So FNCS events could be played again within a month! We’ll have to wait until next year for the finals though.
