One of the most unique events in competitive at the moment is the OG Cup for Fortnite. These are special events which are taking place all throughout the current seasons, to give players a chance at playing competitive in the retro form of the game. The OG Cup Fortnite now hosts is a bit different to the rest of the line-up of tournaments. But for older pros and newer hopefuls, these could be a great starting point.
The OG Cup Fortnite runs is similar to the standard Cash Cups Epic offers for the normal Battle Royale mode. It’s also played in a more casual format but with minor cash prizes at stake. However, Fortnite OG Tournaments have a key difference. They’re played in the original form of Fortnite. Which is a lot more stripped back than the version we see in the FNCS at the moment.
How exactly do these OG Cup Fortnite work? These are the key details:
OG Cup Fortnite Format

The most important thing to know to follow or play in the OG Cups is how the event actually works. The tournaments are Cash Cups, so self-contained events compared to the expansive Champion Series.
This season, they’re being played in the Duos format. Two players to a team. It’s probably the smoothest format for Fortnite esports. It also makes playing them a bit easier. They used to be in the squads format, but getting one other player online every week is easier than three.
As Cash Cup style events, it does make them great events for more casual competition. A starting place for up and comers trying to get into bigger tournaments. Although, they have a certain appeal to older Fortnite players too. For the OG Cup Fortnite is back in the stripped back version of the game. You could still run into some of the best Fortnite teams in your lobbies though.
The OG Cup format is played in a three-hour session. During each session, players get 10 matches to compete. Each match contributes points to a leaderboard for both placement and kills. At the end of the season, this leaderboard will decide the winners of the Fortnite OG Cup. It’s a single session event, no need to qualify for a second round.

OG Cup Fortnite Prizes
While Epic’s Cash Cups typically feature a cash prize, it isn’t quite the case this time. Players won’t be able to earn any cash for playing in the OG Cups.
The big change for prizes like this came with the launch of Season 6 as Epic’s stepped in to try and resolve the cheating problems in Fortnite esports. They’ve cut down on smaller tournaments with cash prizes, since these were being farmed by cheaters. They’ve also introduced new requirements to the bigger events though, which are where the real reward for OG Cups comes in.
To compete in bigger tournaments players now need to have competed in more smaller tournaments in the last 180 days. To keep this requirement up, they’ll have to take part in some of these smaller events. The OG Cups Fortnite has given quite a bit of variety to this tournament gameplay, so it’s a great way to get access to bigger events.
Who Can Take Part in OG Cup Fortnite?

If you’re just beginning in pro Fortnite, these OG Cups could be a fun way to get involved. Are there any limitations on who can take part though?
There are some minor requirements players have to meet, but it’s largely open to most players. You need to be 13 or older for a start. Then, you need multi factor authentication on your account. More recently Epic has added a requirement of complying with anti-cheat rules too. Just make sure your account is ready to start in Fortnite esports and you’re of age, and you should be ready to jump into the game.

If you want to get involved for gameplay in the flashback side of Fortnite, the OG Cups are being held regularly.
