When exactly can we expect the new season? After a few delays earlier in Chapter 5, it seems Chapter 6 Season 3 has been sped up to bring us back on schedule! Which means the game is reaching Season 4 a little quicker than normal. The Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 release date is going to be August. That’s when we expect the game to go offline for downtime, and then move on into a brand-new season. But what’s coming?
As with any new season though, we’ll know quite a bit about what’s coming before the season actually arrives. Typically, we see gameplay, and even Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Battle Pass leaks. So far, we have a firm idea about the theme and quite a few gameplay features thanks to Fortnite leakers. This is what’s coming and when we’re expecting the new season:

Season Theme
This year might not have been entirely spoilt like 2024 with its roadmap leak, but we have a good idea of the big themes that are coming for future Fortnite seasons. The next season is going to be an alien invasion.
This is another season theme that we’ve seen before, but this one is supposedly quite different. It’s going to be a bug like alien invasion, with players fighting them off. Seems quite Starship Troopers like, but probably without those deeper themes that might not fit well in Fortnite!
We’ve had quite a few repeated season themes in Chapter 6 so far. Season 2 returning again to heists didn’t do much to make it feel unique. But this season’s return to the Superhero Well has been a bit different at least in gameplay. So, we could see something pretty different in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4. Although, having so many seasons in a row repeating older themes might be part of why the game feels a tad stale to some now.
The theme word given out ahead of release has been Orbital!
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Gameplay Features
Mud
The mud feature from Chapter 4 is coming back in some form. This was a status effect which gave you increased sliding speed and immunity to thermal sights.
We should get more leaks about gameplay as we get closer to the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Release Date. Right now, it’s one area that’s a bit lighter. We do have a big leak for a future feature, but it is one that’s been in Fortnite leaks for multiple seasons now.
Companions
This is a new type of cosmetic that’s been in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 leaks. But this particularly leak was also all over Chapter 6 Season 3 too, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.
It’s supposedly a new feature similar to pets in the past. A way to assign an animal or companion to your loadout. They’ll hover around you.
According to leakers, these companions even do things in Battle Royale like search out loot. Which would mean they’re a cosmetic item that gives an advantage in-game. Unless there’s constantly a free companion in the game, it doesn’t seem too likely. Companions would be a fun feature. Hopefully, they’re a part of Chapter 6 Season 4 and not just one of these features that leakers constantly talk about and feature in Fortnite news but don’t arrive for years.
Map Changes
With the new season focusing on a bug alien invasion, there’s one element we’ve already seen teased for map changes. It looks like alien looking organic structures are popping up, likely home to these new bugs.
New Weapons
In the early teasers for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, we’ve seen some early weapons shown off. The first seems to be a new type of Quad Launcher. But it fires shells in quick succession. Perfect for cleaning out the bugs on the map.
Update Schedule
Thanks to the way Fortnite updates are hosted on the server, players have a good idea of when the first few updates for Chapter 6 Season 4 are scheduled. These are the updates we know about:
- August 7th – Season launch
- August 26 – Midseason update
- September 9th – Update
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Skins
One of the biggest Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 leaks would be the Battle Pass! We’ve seen quite a few Battle Pass skins. This is what we’re getting according to leakers:

- Halo Spartans
- Tommy Oliver
- Megazord Secret Skin

More Dragon Ball X Fortnite
These could come later than next season though. These types of leaks can hang around for years before they arrive sometimes. Some of the most popular Fortnite skins like Peter Griffin were leaked for Chapters before they actually arrived.
One Punch Man
This one has been kicking around all season, and could run on into Chapter 6 Season 4 too. One Punch Man would come to the game with a skin of its protagonist, along with a few emotes and other items.
Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Release Date
Those are the biggest Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 leaks so far, but when does it actually release? The new season is expected to begin on August 7th. That’s when the current season goes into downtime. It’s just a few days away now that the FNCS Major 3 finals have wrapped up.
