The Galactic Battle tournaments are a bit more limited, but we’re still seeing some high level Fortnite getting played every week. For the FNCS Showdown Week 2, we’ve seen Clix, Peterbot, and Eomzo take the win. A particularly fun instalment though, mixing competitors from the top teams in the last Major. What’s more impressive is how Peterbot played.
Since we were seeing players mixing up from their normal Trios, there’s been some problems with setups and distance from each other. Meaning Peterbot ended up playing the FNCS Showdown Week 2 on his girlfriend’s PC, apparently playing at 60 ping! There’s been claims of awful FPS too, but at the least it seems he was competing pretty far from the Fortnite zero ping locations. How is the FNCS Showdown event going so far?
Week 1 kicked off the new FNCS Showdown tournaments, we saw the standard trios from the last two majors experimenting. As it’s a bit of an experimental tournament without our normal meta, players have chosen to play with fairly random teammates too! A trend we’ve seen through this and FNCS Showdown Week 2 is players mixing up their squads to try out other teammates. Although, one of the great performing players in Week 1 were already one of the top Fortnite trios.
The top performing team in Week 1 though was one of the squad’s sticking together, Clix, Higgs, and Eomzo. The 2nd place from the last Major claimed victory in the first week.
It was also a strong week for Ritual, Rapid, and Threats. After Ritual was labelled the weak link of the Peterbot Trio, he’s been putting the time in to grind his way back to a strong performance. Second place here shows it’s paying off, even if it’s with a different trio.
The incoming champion from the Pro-Am and last Major, Peterbot, had a worse week. Playing with Bugha and Kraez, he only came in 14th. A disappointing result, but if you ever wondered how the best Fortnite player and the one with the highest earnings would play together, that’s how. Maybe their specific skills aren’t quite meshing. Although, we can’t really compare a one-off like the Week 1 or FNCS Showdown Week 2 to the prep and strategy of a Major.

After a fun first week, teams were mixed up again for the FNCS Showdown Week 2. We’ve seen players who were going head-to-head end up on the same team this time. Clix, Peterbot and Eomzo ended up taking the win this week. That was after they went head-to-head for the top spot in the last Major. Elsewhere, Shadow, Vergo, and Kreaz came in 2nd. Another team mixed up with competitors from across squads. Muz, Rapid, and Bugha took 4th too.
In the EU region, things were a bit different. SwizzY, Malibuca, and Flickzy took 1st place. No one was competing on ridiculous ping or needing a better FPS in Fortnite on this squad though.
One trend we’re seeing with the FNCS Showdown Week 2 and before is the kill counts. The totals for Round 1 are insane. Since these tournaments are open to Division 1 and 2, players are sometimes ending up in easier lobbies for the first round. At least compared to the normal FNCS. We’ve seen teams end up with kill counts of 30-50 in Round 1 of the Showdown. Insane performances across the board.

That’s the FNCS Showdown Week 2 and 1 so far, but there’s more to come from this tournament. We’ve still got one more event to go, the third week of the Showdown. The tournament isn’t building to a full major. However, the Fortnite tournament loot pool has been quite a bit looser this time. We’re seeing the kinds of items that normally get removed left in.
Lightsabers are flowing through builds, and the Darth Vader AI has even gotten players the win in some cash cups. As we go through the next two updates, we’ll see even more weird content added in. It’ll be fun to see how pro players compete with this strange meta too. After that, it’s just a short run left until the season ends and we get back to normal for competitive format, with a more stable meta and Major 3 to wrap up the FNCS qualifying season.
